I have heard the same thing about Sandy Creek, so I would have to believe some browns would run up out of the river into Oil Creek in the fall.  The only problem is there is an Ice Management dam/spillway at the lower end of the Oil Creek State Park, I have never taken a close look at it but I think it would stop most upstream movement except in extreme high water.  It is a pretty good ways upstream from where Oil Creek dumps into the river, so there is plenty of water for them to run through before they get there......

River dwelling brown trout run up tributaries to their river systems every fall.  It's just a matter of how many trout, and when do they go.  if a River doesn't hold many browns, obviously there won't be fishable numbers in tributaries.  If a River holds alot of browns, well...

im half tempted to give it a try....I saw a picture that someone caught a 31 inch Atlantic Salmon out of Sandy Creek the first day of trout about 10 years ago in a fly shop.  How in the world it got there I dunno, someone musta thought it was a good idea...Never know with big water whats going to come out of it.

Allegheny River holds rainbow trout populations. Some spawn in the Spring.
