Waders
I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinion on Chota waders. I realize this is like asking, "What is your favorite florocarbon?" I would like to hear both good and bad about them. I am looking at a pair of the Steelhead boot foot waders, but would like a little more info before I drop some serious cash on them. Thanks in advance, Steelehead

Well It's like taste in women we all have our own view ... i guess anything that keeps you dry .. but In my view breathable are nice and good for walking the creeks also this time a year boots that have rubber soles with studs becasue felt just sticks to every flake of snow you step on

I don't know notin' bout' 'em but did u feel,look 'em over, try 'em on & check the extra features & comfort ov the type ov fishin' u plan? When it comes 2 boots iM' worser than girls with shoes.
Little more info. on what types fishin would be helpful u prob a.k.t Best bet would be try a pair on & look them over if they are pricey. Most any comp. has bot. line & top shelf. Very good question. I'd check em on line for their cons. reports also.

Save your money, if your going to get the Chota steel headers and some advise the lug soles with the studs horrible, Still feels like your walking on moss and catching yourself from falling. I have a pair of Chota SLT'S that are wading shoes and are studded. I do like them so far but worn very little. If your going to buy a good pair of waders and some, some dough$$ that is i would look into a pair of Simms pro g3's can't go wrong their. Pricey but you pay for what you get. Simms  Chota's  Just my two cents. Centerpin_drift!~

beerman, when you go to post, you can see the smileys to the left of the box right? Well, below them is a link to "more smileys" click it and you get a whole array of smileys and emoticons to use in your post....like this one for you:  Well, I think its about time for a Yuengling! I just noticed that there are none of the thumbs up/down in there so I tried this... right click on the thumbs up/down and copy the properties and put the link inside [img]link[/img] <-----like this. My brother got a pair breathable bootfoot w/studs not felt (chota - the steelheaders) leaked 2nd time out, replaced by Orchardview. Second pair leaked 1st time out - refunded by Orchardview. I took mine back to Cabela's for a full refund before even trying them on. True story... take it for what it's worth... Dave

You guys are REALLY making this tough. I found them on close-out at Cabela's for $200 and thought I was going to get a great deal. I'm now starting to wonder???

If you are looking to fish mainly in the cold, I would suggest looking at the neoprene Hogmans boot footed waders with felt. I realize felt has major issues in the snow. Trust me, been there, done that, got the bruises..., but the upside is they are warm, so far the pair I have are still providing me with good service, no leaks in almost two years and they are cheap, about $70 at PR's. At that price, you can use them in the cold and when things warm up, have another pair of breathables with a good wading shoe.
Since I bought the boot foot neoprenes, I have have warmer feet, easier on and off of the waders and less wear and tear on my Simms waders and boots, which I usually wear in the warmer seasons.

steelehead, that's what I thought too when I saw the price @ Cabela's & got them, but after my bro's experience I took them back for a refund. I wear the waist high neos and put my own studs in them. My breathables all have studs. Won't wade without studs in any kind of conditions. Just my preference. Dave

Got a pair of Chota Steelheaders in December. Have used them 3 or 4 times. No problem with them. Boots are warm. Good traction with the studs installed, although not as good as the STL Plus boots. On the plus side, they are much much better in mud or snow. Overall I am satisfied with them, but time will tell.

I have Willy J's and I really like em, but from what everyone says Simms are supposedly the best out there and have the price to prove it. Apparently you wont see a guide in Alaska without them from what Im told. I am planning on getting the Scierra waist high waders, they look pretty snazzy and look like quality, anyone have any experience?

I have a pair of Simms G3's and love them. I also have a pair of Simms wading boots with the Aquastealth studded soles. They are nice boots and I rarely slip wearing them. My only problem with the Simms waders is I get cold feet in the winter. I have tried all sorts of things and I still just can't keep my feet warm. To combat that problem I got a pair of inexpensive Hogdeman boot foot neoprene waders. These keep my feet warm.

yeah cold feet can really be a damper im sure all of us have been there. Ive felt like an amputee somtimes walking from spot to spot lol. Bootfoots would be the best option but I usually walk enough that I'd sweat bullets with the neo's on. Hiking up some of the bluffs would beat on me too bad. I use InGenius gore-tex socks, they are a synthetic material and I wouldnt say they are the best warmers but I did notice a little difference. Prob hard to beat the bootfoots though.

I wear InGenius even w/bootfoot. I must be really soft.......good socks!
