You might be even more astounded what your kid's are being exposed to in grade and high schools. Not to even mention college!!!!

Well, I talk with my kids so I know exactly what they're being exposed to in school and college.  I'm sure you're active in your local school system so you see all of the patriotism, hard work and respect that is displayed every day by young people in your local school system.

This is what I saw.  In your original statement you called out Trump, credited Tucker and Hannity with propping up the Trump cult, then equated Maddow and Cooper propping up a left cult.  You then dug the hole deeper by equating Trump followers to Obama followers.  This commentary basically reduced the destruction Trump has done to our country to Politics 101.

Later you back-pedaled and stated the huge magnitude difference in your comparison.

You need to brush up on Reading Comprehension 101 then.

I was never comparing actions.  No need to back-pedal from others statements or miscomprehension.

Not sure why many of you are so butthurt over this.  Did the truth sting that much?

It is kind of a stretch to equate the cultists on the right to the woke progressives on the left. There are some out in left field liberals, this is true. But I've not heard or seen too many of them advocate for civil war, or overturning elections or all the white nationalism that comes from the other side. Obama did wear that brown suit that one time and ordered the fancy mustard, so there's that. 🙄😆

Who is equating the actions of each?

The left media went after Trump like no other and still doing it. He deserved/deserves most of it. But they also spread many falsehoods, which in turn gave Trump and the right media cover to “justify” their falsehoods. Trump and the right media obviously went much further (not equating actions). The left media is why half if not more Trump culties are Trump culties to begin with. If not sensationalizing every “Trump” moment and not adding false accusations, we would likely have no more Trump. Hopefully the left media stops with anything that isn’t 100% facts. Midterms were clear that independents and sane Republicans are rejecting Trump. Sure, report this latest scum move by Trump, but don’t go overboard sensationalizing it. That only helps him. That is how he has always operated. Stop feeding the trolls.

Yes. The no good, terrible, horrible, very very very bad left wing media.

Not to straw man you or anything here, but one could almost get the impression that you are going out of your way to blame the left wing media for everything that’s is wrong with the Republican Party. And that just seems… oh I dunno, perhaps a bit misplaced?

I’m also not so sure about these “false accusations” that you speak of. Do you mean the porn star hush money? The hot mic puussy grabbing tape? Extorting Zelensky? Lying about stolen elections? All of the lies about covid? Inciting a mob to attack the capital? All the criminal convictions for manafort and Flynn and Rick gates and stone and papadopoulos and cohen and weiselberg for the crooked shiit they did while working for trump? The scam university? The bankruptcies? The shady real estate deals that go back decades? Ties to Russia? Having dinner with neo nazis?

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen you acknowledge the reality of all of these events in different posts on this board. So what do you think the ratio of “real accusations” to “false accusations” is?

So then are guys like me that voted for Barack Obama and Bernie sanders just as brainwashed as the trump culties?

By no means am I blaming the left media for the wrongs of Trump. Their relentless coverage and running with some things that aren’t proven facts as if they are, is what drives many Trump supporters to keep supporting him. This is a fact, guys from that side on this board have been noting similar for many years. Maybe not their only reason, but up there.

You are correct, I’ve called him out and have been disgusted by the guy since about the time that he won the primary, possibly prior. I simply pointed out that his playbook from the beginning was getting the main stream media to cover him, good or bad. The main stream media to me, does it right in the coverage. Report it and be done with it. CNN is relentless with their round table stuff. MSNBC comes up with things that if true, he’d be in concrete cell in Florence, CO.

Your last statement sounds like the Trump culties that claim that there is no difference between someone that voted for Trump and someone that worships him or the “patriots” that stormed the capital. There is a clear difference. I’m not calling the vast majority of Dems cultists. But there is definitely a portion that is just as cult like on their side as the Trumpers.

For those that have their panties in a bunch over this, maybe you are a cultie?

As a side note, this isn’t only my view. There are many NPR/WSJ journalist writing similar. I thought this was a pretty well known Trump playbook thing?

Also… the details of this whole trump - Kanye - nick fuentes - milo yanapoulis dinner are just freaking bizarre.

How does something like this even happen? How does Kanye west just show up for dinner with an ex president, and he brings some neo nazi that nobody bothers to vet or check into his background?

Either they knew who nick Fuentes was and they let trump have dinner with him anyway, or they didn’t even bother to check into people who are guests at the private residence of a former president. I’m not sure which is worse.

And trump just has random un-vetted neo nazis wandering his house where he may or may not have classified documents stashed?

Is it a “false accusation” if I say this isn’t normal?

This will be interesting of how it is handled. Like he mentioned of a Ponzi scheme, population didn’t keep up with the baby boomers to pay for them. The money paid in didn’t stay in a “savings account”, it paid for those in line to collect. There are more collecting for longer than there are putting in and that trend is only getting less favorable.

It would be nice if it really were a savings account and you received what you put in, with interest. But that isn’t what it is. Maybe that is what it will change to when they fix it, but what do you do with those that never put anything in? Do we kick the disabled on the streets? It is a mess. I planned to never receive myself. I just hope the “fix” isn’t that my taxes skyrocket and I still don’t receive any….

I agree with you, Porktown. Been readin' a lot about SS lately, and I'm really conflicted 'cause I agree with a lot of what Biden has proposed. Social Security is a charge on "earned income", but as of 2022, earned income stops at $147K. An earner in that wage base would receive double or more the average SS check that is now paid out. If it's "earned income", why stop there? If you're a corporation manager in a division, or if you're the CEO of said corporation and make anywhere from $200K to $1Mil a year, and the charge is really on earned income, why are these people getting a break? Additionally, what if the CEO gets $1Mil in wages, but gets $10Mil in bonuses because the company and the stock did so well? The way I see it, those bonuses are earned income. And then what happens to the self-employed? (Back in the early '90s, I worked one year on a 1099 form, and along with the Fed income and all the other taxes, I ended up borrowing money to pay SS taxes as I fell under the 12.4% rate instead of 6.2%). Remember, your employer is also payin' 6.2% for your contribution but self employed are fully responsible for the full amount.
From what I was able to find out, approximately 72 million Americans receive social security. 57 million of them are seniors, but where does an additional 15 million come from? Sure, there are probably some that are infirm and cannot work at all, and there's probably many that have some other disability or malady that prevents working and paying in, (like wounded vets, etc). But I remember way back when Congress authorized alcoholics and drug addicts to receive SS as a disability payment. How about all those homeless on the streets of LA, San Francisco, NYC, etc? Some of them are living in $500 tents. Where'd they get the money to buy them? Robbery or pan handling? I don't think so.
(If), and when Congress decides to take this up, let's watch and see just how many of them begin telling the American people about the social security "lock box", a non-existent term we've been hearing about for years, because many people actually believe it. But we know that all of that money goes into the general fund, and Congress ****es it away just as readily as the rest of all the tax money they steal from us. I'd be amazed if Congress has the cojones to actually iron this out. All of you younger to middle aged folks need to prepare for your own retirements. And make it a safe retirement, 'cause the government is already planning on raiding 401Ks and IRAs. Nuff said!

First you were like, tax the rich! And I was like, yeah! Then you were like take benefits from the downtrodden and homeless! And I was like, huh? You know a large percentage of homeless people have full jobs, right? They just can't afford housing. Have you looked at the price of housing lately?

The only way to fix social security is to raise SS revenue. Period. And that means raising taxes, or lifting the cap on SS taxable income, or fixing tax loopholes that people use to dodge paying SS taxes or some combination/all of the above. You can’t even fix it with cutting spending elsewhere because SS is just too expensive.

Republican lawmakers will never let any of these things happen. They want to raise the eligibility age and cut benefits and starve the system. They’d rather burn it down and promise tax cuts for everybody.

Social security is a GIGANTIC expensive social program. And we simply can’t have big social programs like this if we aren’t willing to accept a tax code that funds them.

Well we could have big social programs if we had our priorities right, you pay into that from your very 1st job. Rather than waste money on sending rockets to moon to see the craters,or being the world's policeman and protecting countrys that can protect their selves. Why not take care of the people here whom have worked their entire life and payed into SS. Changes have been made in the past to age used to be 65 now its 67. used to be 62 for partial benefits now its 65 ,changes do need to be made whether its taxes or a longer wait period. Many on these forums think people on SS are living the life of Riley, most are barely getting by. Most on here think Medicare is free it isn't that money comes directly then theres  supplemental deducted from your social security check to tune of over 200 a month, then there's supplemental to cover the stuff regular doesn't cover the other 20%.It costs depending on your age if over 70 it's about 230 more dollars a month.thats about 450 give or take form that big 1200 to 1700 ckeck you get.
It's an easy fix raise to cap and let the wealthy opt out they won't need the huge ss check when there old they will have enought money to live on without it. Don't give it to people who haven't earned it, stop raiding it for general fund. I hope when you younger guys are older its will be there for you,for the majority of us on it it's a blessing. Changes do need to be made though!

Wait so you’re telling me that not all people that receive government benefits are just lazy, no good mooches, getting fat on that government teat?

So is it just “those people” (wink wink) who somehow manage to live these ultra luxurious lifestyles on nothing but government benefits, but for good honest folk like you, well gosh darn it, that money just doesn’t go as far you might think. Is that how it is?

Lol yea, “let the wealthy opt out”, because rich people got rich by turning down free money rather than stepping on everybody else while they climb to the top of the food chain.

I think you’re living in a dream world.

Also, find one single Republican in congress who is in favor of raising the SS cap.

Actually people born in 1937 are the last to get full at 65.  1960 and later is 67.  between 1938 and 1959 it is pro-rated between 65 and 67.

'cause I question that "large percentage" have full time jobs
I'm involved with them (trying to help,  be it shelter, food, drug rehab or convincing them to take their meds that are FREE to them)
and see/know what their problems are.

I actually rub elbows with them and don't know any that have full time jobs
