I'll take intelligence over BS any day.  Someone who won 4 bronze stars, taught at West Point and had a stellar record in Congress and earned a Phd from Cornell is a good candidate in my book. I don't want some dumb azz populist outlier like Trump as Governor.   If you read one of Chris Gibson's books you might have a different view.  Any politician visiting your plant is walking on eggs as it's considered one of the worst polluters on the Hudson and lots want it closed.
Trevor, the Canadian Rockies are incredible. I've been to Banff, Jasper and Wood Buffalo. Give yourself a real treat and do a trip on the Bow River.  One of the best trout rivers in the world.  In the summer, the critters head higher, but the wildlife is still abundant. I went in May one year when everything from Caribou to  Bighorns , Moose, Mountain Goats and lots of bears were down in the valleys. It was very much a drive through zoo. I was hoping for a trip to Cape Breton this summer to salmon fish on the Margaree, but it looked kind of restrictive crossing the border with long quarantines.  I hope this changes for your sake. Are you  flying to Calgary?

Yes - into Calgary in August--I hope---
Its a group trip and contingent on those restrictions being lifted.

Hey- my mother in law used to live on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia  vacationed there for a couple of weeks for many summers.
They had a camp up on Loc Lomond ( sp?) her husband  and I fished every day for native brookies in places with no trails and no footprints with beaver pools and pristine conditions that only the natives knew -GREAT
Also fished the loc for Atlantics.
In late Summer they had what they called the 'strawberry run' of brookies from salt water along the coast where their house was.
Some streams would load up with fish and no one else around.
Used to buy our little flys on those cardboard sheets with about 18 bugs for a dollar, made no difference what ya threw they hit everything.

The only place I've ever caught salters. We hiked into a place called Fishing Cove which had a brookie stream running into the Northumberland Strait. I caught  silvery brookies 100 feet in from the salt, and pollock in the cove. Ate the fish with tons of wild blueberries for dessert. Heaven on Earth. I'm hoping, the restrictions lift for both of us.

A little teaser, the Bow goes right through Calgary.

Probably but is he able to write a book and get a Grammy or put in a shower stall for someone disabled.. He hasn't provided the tools and necessary means for the common folks in our district

He's out of politics, he's a professor at Williams college. WTF does a Grammy have to do with anything, or building showers? I do those for a living, did two this past year , but mine are sill-less so you can  wheel a wheelchair in. I have one in the  house I built for my parents .  Kinderhook is a hell of a lot nicer looking  town than Stockport, so what's your point?  You can argue all you want, but you aren't going to convince me on  your stoned politics.  Don't call me brother, that's a very empty term, signifying nothing. I have brothers that are not biological, but  I don't use the term lightly.  I'm not union, either. As wise and know all as you are, why don't you run for local office and fix all the problems?

I've put showers in for my Dad and brother who were in wheelchairs and  for a vet who lost his legs in Iraq. Of course, not as cool as you. If you didn't perpetually try to play show and tell and  use passive aggressive one-upmanship it would be a happier place. I'll leave you to your blog, it's not worth my time.

Its no worries and this has become ridiculously childish. I am removing everything not pertaining to vaccines. I'm no better than anyone else and only share experiences through my eyes. If I live another 3.5 years, I will retire into peaceful bliss and you'll probably never hear from me again.

Nah, my arm hurt like hell for about 12 hours after, also. Wife had the same thing. Other than that, pretty much like any other shot. We go back 3-11 for 2nd dose.

Shots in arms is the only way we get "normal" again. Good luck all

Thanks Dar--got real lucky with the wife looking around on the computer and getting me a shot within the week - this after  being told at least 2 to 3 months by the local health dept registry.
All about looking at ALL available dispensers and getting lucky with someone taking reservations.
Just looking in one local place isnt the answer  IMHO.
I only had to travel about 20 miles to gain months of protection.
Annnnd a likely spring steel trip too .

Get #2 on the 14th of March.
No waiting - no lines- needle in the arm within a few minutes of walking through the door.

That's great new trevor.
My sister has been scheduled on Wednesday for her first shot at the center for disabled in Albany.
I'm miles away from my turn but just having the wife and sister being done take a huge load off my mind.

Second shot in today-
Now just waiting for some good dropback reports- warmer weather-no rain-  melt off not so bad the river rises too much- guaranteed fish-no wind-cheap clean rooms and good food reports.

Ahhh but a dream-its Pulaski- none of the above-- --JUST FISH,

That's good news Rg.
Don't know if you have but I'd check out the tailwater. Its really first rate and I'm sure the wife would enjoy a massage.
Being retired, going during the weekdays ain't so bad on $$.
Good luck..

Tailwater is certainly the best up there Rich- But for fishing I dont spend room or hotel time just sleeping and fishing with a quick meal someplace.
In any other vacation situation I would most certainly look for someplace like Tailwater just not my thing up there.
Did give it some real  thought  and may go there sometime- looks to be a very nice and much needed addition to the area.
A weekday trip certainly- try and avoid as much shoulder bumping as possible.

It's all relevant rg. The days of 10, 20 and 40 dollar rooms are pretty much over. I don't mind taking a room for 2 at $140. There that has everything on site over a room for 2 at $100.. I may go for the fishing but enjoy the comfort and amenities

Re: 2nd dose in 2021/03/17 20:05:36 (permalink)
I became eligible at 8am today for a vaccine. Simple, easy and plenty options within a short radius.
Checked locations and could have gotten dosed with J&J today or tomorrow in Syracuse, 24/7. Glens falls had a Sunday pheizer and many other days openings. Albany had at first an April 28th ( which I took) then a this Friday opening.
I will stick with my April 28th. In Albany.

Now here is my grievance.
The federal government, months back had a vaccine ready. The states regulated distribution and eligible. The states wasted hundreds of thousands of vaccine not allowing eligibility to willing and needing people by rations , then saying there's not enough vaccine for everyone. Well it seems like there's been plenty all along but only available based on who decides their fate .
Hope everyone stays healthy .

Totally agree HT.

My wife and I have said that from the start. Shots in arms is the goal. I'm not advocating for taking a vaccine from someone at risk. They should have had a stand by list with no restrictions. If you want a shot you can get it. Have it at a 10 mile radius. Set up a text alert. Any shots left over would go to someone rather than get wasted.
