snow

Well, the only good thing about this snow IMO is that there should still be some around for muzzle-loader season, which will be great. Hope it doesn't all melt by then. I see that the PGC closed some roads on game lands because of the snow, hope that they can re-open them by then. Good luck to you flinters. Keep yer powder dry.  sam

Current snow will most likely be gone down here as bare ground is already showing and the high on Wednesday is 47. But, we may get a dusting on Christmas eve and day which would be great for the late season opener. I plan to be out with the flintlock Saturday in Washington County. Planning on being out all day if there is some action. If it is slow, I may come home and archery hunt the evening in the SRA's.

I'll be out with my bow.  Hoping for a thin coating and frozen leaves so you can see and hear them coming.....not so good if you plan to still hunt.

It is a shame that it looks like most of the snow around here will be gone. I mostly still hunted when I was able & the soft snow especially, was very helpful for sneaking around & very good if you had to trail or verify a hit with a muzzle-loader. I surely miss those days. Good luck to  all & MERRY CHRISTMAS & A BETTER NEW YEAR.   SAM & SUE

Most of the snow gone already here. Pretty patchy. After 45 degrees today and a lot of rain forecast tomorrow, all of it should be pretty much gone. But, we are supposed to get an inch late Christmas eve and it is gonna be cold on Christmas. So maybe, we have a day old coating for the opener in this corner of the state. That would be nice.

That's the forecast, hopefully it comes to pass.  I hope the winds aren't as bad they are predicting.

Now saying 2-4 around Pittsburgh tomorrow night so it looks like some fresh snow for Saturday. Breezy though. I am taking the flintlock and sneaking all day. With it being cold, hopefully the snow is fluffy and relatively quiet when walking.

3-5 now tonight down here. Looks like you folks up north by Erie are going to get clobbered. Likely too much snow to even hunt Saturday.

There’s never to much snow to hunt for us up here It’ll just take a little more effort.

We have had 3/4 inch of rain to go with the melting snow. Forecast for another 3/4 inch — the straight from the 40’s into the 20’s after midnight, so everything will be a skating rink. I can’t stand ice.
