Sat from sun up till 2 and saw zilch. Switched properties and saw 6 doe this afternoon. Not a buck in sight. I think this is the slowest first week of November ever for me.

dpms Although The season started out good with 1-10pt & 1 -8pt it slowed to a screeching halt for my crew also.Tho a bud did get an average 8pt. this morn.they have not been seeing much in our area lately, even the roadkills have slowed down.My son was complaining that in his spots the acorns were getting hit early & now are pretty much gone & the deer traffic is also. He & his wife passed on 2 shooters the first day, which he may be regretting now. OH WELL,   sam

Thanks, I'm still in awe I can't believe it happened like that I finally got one for the wall. My buddy his farm I hunt smacked a big 8pt last night literally same time I shot my doe. Just a few hundred yards from where I killed mine.

Did an all day sit. Saw two shooters the first hour. Had one at 40 yards and waited thinking he would keep coming, but he stopped and angled farther away. The rest of the day was slow. 3 does at dark.

My evening was dead until 5pm, after the quads stopped tooling around...
Ended up seeing 15 deer for sure, most doe/fawns but did have a small 2.5 yr old 8 point at 10 yds that I got on video and also had a unicorn walk under me and then hang around at 30 yds until dark munching on acorns.  Moved my set-up about 50 yds up the hill where I have been seeing all the deer move through and there are a couple oaks still dropping acorns.  Think they hit these before heading off to the yet unpicked corn fields....

Heard all kind of deer moving all around me as I was climbing down and walked up on a pretty big deer that semi-spooked but not full bore....acted like it was a buck but I don't know for sure.

Nice buck thunder!

Been doing all day sits since Tuesday, 3 at first light on Tuesday then around 930 all had one heck of a chase going on around me, 5 legal bucks(3 8 pts, basket 9, 10 pt) pushed a doe all around me for about 40 minutes. I could of shot the 3 smallest bucks but the 10 pt and good 8 pt never gave me a shot. Those were the last deer I saw till this afternoon.

After not seeing anything else Tuesday, all day yesterday and till about noon today moved locations and finally saw some bucks cruising. A wall hanger 10 came through about 50 yds out about 230, wouldn't respond to any calls then saw two decent 8 pts between 3 and 4 both little too far to shoot. Back at it tomorrow.

A couple videos from this past week...
Did see the big 6 point (looks like a small brow on left beam) and gave a little 2.5 year old 8 point the pass last night.  Got to withing 10 yards.

Is there any rut activity going on out your way?  No sign of rut activity in my neck of the woods here in 2C.  I did see a big buck at dusk last night but was not hunting.  There was another deer with it but don't know what it was.  Too dark.

Sunday November 1st in the rain I did a speed scout (as I call it) I checked all the places I typically find rub lines scrape lines ect. I moved like 8 cameras around to these areas. I went home looked at the past 5 years for tc pics for October and November. Things that stood out Oct 23-31 I had the most pics of the big boys on cam, typically between 10am-2pm the next best time was the week after close . Our last week this year. All that info was a week late but invalid because I killed the next day . Then my buddy killed 2 days later pretty excited to see what gets on cams till rifle

Nada. Zilch. Have seen a few bucks cruising. No chasing. Deer sightings way down. So far this morning I have seen one lonesome fawn.

This heat stinks.
Saw a 4 point and 6 doe/fawns yesterday morning....then quads started up around 9am and it was getting warm....

Evening sit in a different spot, kicked out two young ones on the walk in....really crunchy....and I was REALLY sweaty...all uphill walk in.  Nothing from stand seen.
Bowing out today since it will be just as warm.  Hopefully Thursday and Friday will be better.  Looks like a good bit of rain and thunderstorms tomorrow.  If it looks like it will clear up earlier than they are calling for in the afternoon, I may hustle to head out for the afternoon....

Thats my plan as well. Tomorrow is the last day of my rutcation but the morning looks horrible so I will probably sit the morning out. Hoping it clears by the afternoon. If it does, it should be a good few hours.

Re: 2020 archery thread 2020/11/10 18:48:33 (permalink)
The recent heat has me not feeling like sitting in a stand. Went Friday afternoon and all I saw were 2does and a fawn. The fawn was the only one that came into range. Sat Saturday from sunup until noon in a different property and again the only shot was on a fawn.

Think the buck in my area are definitly starting to move though, as some historic scrapes are finally opened up as of saturday. Went to work on Sunday and had a nice 9pt in the middle of the road I came to a full stop for drop his head like he was gonna charge the truck. He let me pass, then immediately resumed his position in the road. Think there was a hot doe not too far away.

Few jobs to get caught up on at work on the next couple days, but then I'm hitting it hard this last week. Can't wait for the temps to drop. My pickyness is gone, but I got some pics of the 10pt on my property recently, so glad to know he is still out there. He must be hating the heat as well, as they are still all late night pics.

Good luck out there guys!

My daughter -in-law just saw a big buck crossing the road in front her at high noon.  Only reason for that is the rut is on.  Now if the rain stops I can get out there.

Got to watch 2 decent sized bucks fighting last night in a field by my property in Clarion County. They didnt care about my headlights, too worried about pushing each other around. Lighting was too poor for video or pics.  Did see 2 others (in different spots along same road), each looked intent on their tracking and it's no wonder so many get hit on the road....

Well, my rutcation wrapped up today with a 4 point and 3 does. This is the slowest week of rut hunting I have ever had since they extended to season into November. I guess I have the weekend left, including Sunday and that is about it. Might have to pick up the iron this year.

Went north to steer clear of the rain and that part of the plan worked.  Ended up seeing a lone fawn and then a 5/6 point came within range.  His right beam is messed up and loops down then up and looked like it had a couple small points on it.  His left antler was a normal 3 points....2 up and a brow.  The funny thing was, I set my tree umbrella a little too high and couldn't wrap the tether around...no wind, no worries.  Well, the wind picked up and whoosh....off it wen about 10 yards from the tree in the leaves...it was funny seeing the buck reacting to the strange object in the woods....he stared...head bobbed, walked around to within 10 yds...then circled downwind of it and then up and over the hill.  Not sure a shooter would have reacted like that....

Six hour sit today.  Did not see anything.

That monster buck my daughter-in-law saw yesterday got whacked by a vehicle today in the same area.  A nice big 10 pt.  What a terrible way to go.
