Loyalhanna

I’m new to this lake and have made 3 trips so far this month in my kayak. Looking for any recommendations on lures to throw. Mostly targeting bass but realize that the lake holds a healthy crappie population. Had some success throwing a 1.5” bluegill square bill but just some dinks in the 8-10” range. I haven’t been able to paddle back to the dam yet but suspect that’s where the bigger fish are hiding.

you can do what I've done for years and that's to drag/carry your boat down from the visitor center at the dam and paddle around down by the dam where the lake is deepest and fishing is pretty good. you can park right at the end of the parking lot at the visitor center and there's a trail right down to the lake - watch out for poison ivy - there's also a gated off road to walk down to the lake but it's a much longer portage.

Thanks phish. I’ve fished that spot from shore but didn’t think to launch the kayak there. Might have to see if I can make it work.
