I’m done

Well baseball season is underway and so is the kneeling. Not that I cared all that much about following along but I used to root on the Pirates. Got tired of watching them loose so much. Thing is, even if I was interested in watching or listening to a game on occasion, I will not do it because of the disrespect for the flag and all it stands for. Football will probably start up one way or another and although I am a Steelers fan, if the same shenanigans start there, which I expect to happen, then I will no longer watch or listen to those games either. Maybe if enough people would tune out the owners might clamp down and refuse to let them do it. Have to let the owners take a financial hit. Might be the only way. Well that leaves hockey. At least for now. Go Pens!

IF ENOUGH OF US DONT TUNE IN THE ADVERTISERS WILL OFFFER LESS MONEY AS WILL THE STATIONS CARRYING THE GAMES-

I'm with you both I'm totally done with sports and its a combination of things that bother me.The kneeling for sure but even more so is their more important than everyone else like their a essential workers. They make millions and won't take a pay cut, they can resume their normal way of life during this pandemic and rest of the country gets shut down ,and millions lose their jobs. And why are they being tested every day when noone else can do that, there really are essential workers that need tested with a fast turn around time but not a ball player! I won't miss them at all

Irish I agree. With empty stadiums, no better time to "grandstand". What's to lose?

If ever there was a need for a "name change", professional sports should be changed to "commercialised sports".

By the way, I saw Dr. Fauci throw out the first pitch at the start of some game. WOW !! What an arm.

The Succos could probably use him in the bullpen. The Yuccaneers haven't been a major league baseball team in many years. Tuned out along time ago.

Baseball... hotdogs... apple pie....  and mud in your eye.   Baseball fans must sit at home as Dr Falsie grandstands, while with his wife and very good friend,  rehydrates as they watch the game,  sitting in stadium seats.

Speaking of fans sitting at home, anyone know, if season ticket holders as well as pregame ticket purchases are being reimbursed?

Dang... I'm wrong again.  I should have said 'a crock of mud' in your eye.

As they say in the ole country....  PLAY BALL !!!!

In other news.....  anyone know how the walleye stocking is going on the local lakes???

Anyone aware of the changes being implemented for the upcoming NFL season? All I gotta say is , I’m surprised they are going so far in the name of social justice. I don’t plan on attending any games and don’t plan on watching any on TV. Thanks NFL for ruining it for so many fans that just wanted to sit back and enjoy a game and get away from all the craziness that is going on, 24/7, via the various news sources.

The Steelers have played a few games and I haven't watched nor listened to any games and haven't followed along via sports reports on TV or in print. I wish they would have kept things the way they were and just played the game and kept all social/political issues out of it. Looks like those days are , sadly, gone forever.

    i understand your frustration bigfoot.

gave up on the nba long ago.  nhl doesn't interest me if the pens aren't playing.  pirates aren't worth watching this year anyway.

i have watched both steeler games, and a couple of other nfl games so far this year.  other than a couple of nfl commercials, i haven't really noticed a whole lot of the political stuff.

with such big and diverse rosters in the nfl, a lot of this seems to be unraveling anyway.  in their first game, the steelers all wore the name of antwon rose on the back of their helmets.  except for al villaneuva.  he covered rose's name with tape and wrote the name of alwyn cashe, a black man who was killed in action in iraq and awarded the silver star.  caused a bit of a kerfluffle with some of his teammates, but tomlin apparently approved of it.

maurkice pouncey, who does a lot of charity work with police, also said a couple days after the first game that he wouldn't have worn rose's name on his helmet either if he had researched the whole story.

sunday, none of steelers wore anybody's name.  not sure about other teams, but after nfl ratings were down by about 20% the first weekend, the league seems to have gotten the message that this stuff is hurting the bottom line.  and there's no league that cares about its bottom line as much as the nfl does.

I've watched both Steelers games. The 1st game was a monday nighter and they did show the teams pregame during the national anthem. The Steelers had a huge banner that said "Steelers Against Racism" and they all stood behind it. I was glad to see that. The Giants on the other hand, had many players kneeling.

Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey wears name of slain police officer on helmet... Earlier in the week, Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey said he would be deciding what name he would be putting on his helmet from now on. Last week he wore the name Antwon Rose Jr. on the back but after researching the situation fully realized it would be better to make that decision for himself.

I'm proud as hell to say my wife I have NFL jerseys bearing STEELERS #53 and each, signed by Maurkice Pouncey.

    Kudos to Villaneuva. 🍺🍺🍺

    Did I mention Tomlin sucks.

I'm so proud of Villaneuva I will always respect him fpr as long as he is a steeler Ive never endorsed or bought merchandise bearing anyones name But if I did it would be his. Pouncey a close second. Im sure if the steelers wanted to they could find many hero's that were killed or maimed that they could honor by placing their names on helmets ya know real hero's not thugs fleeing crimes or commiting them. Naw why would you want to do that!!!!

I gave in a little today. I listened to a little of the Steelers vs the Browns on the truck radio today. I also recorded the game but didn’t watch it and deleted it. I did backtrack on the local TV sports at six to see the final score. I’m making an effort but my resolve is showing some cracks!

Bigfoot I too hope for the best, thinking change for the better could be just around the corner but alas same ole drudgery. Well maybe next time I say. 🤗

Steelers looking pretty darned good this season, at 5 & 0. Darned shame the folks who love Steelers football can't be in the stadium to cheer their team on.

Also gotta wonder, with empty sports stadiums for any sport, that's gotta be hard on profits.

Always fun to remind Browns fans that they are fans of the Browns. Almost as bad as being Pirates fans...

Btw on the fans at the stadium. First off, unless club box, I’d rather watch at home, even with free tickets. Secondly, what a racket this year. The lottery for tickets is for season ticket holders only. My brother said that his buddy has season tickets that are $150 per ticket face value. He “won” the lottery for tickets this week. $750 per ticket!!! And have some electronic verification system that makes it impossible to resale. He normally has others lined up to pay for his extra tickets with his seat license fee, parking pass, tailgating, food, drink, souvenirs, etc. is still a kind of expensive outing at ~$300-$400 night. Who is dropping $1k on a regular season game day out???

Hey, those season ticket holders can say no to the lottery if they “win” the rights for those tickets. So I guess if the teams feel they can get people to pay that much, then why not?

They make most of their money from tv and advertising rights, why they pushed forward without fans in the first place. But I just can’t justify paying that much, and devoting a whole day, when the couch is in 70 degrees no rain/snow/wind, I have instant replay and pause when I want, food and drinks for about 1/10th the cost and no line for a bathroom! I might have to pay a little more for whatever product advertised and have to watch whatever commercial (if I am not DVR and fast forward through, which I do most games and takes 1.5-2 hours to watch).

i've watched all 5 steeler games so far.  4 in their entirety, one i had to listen to most of the first half on radio cause i was going somewhere.  football is the one sport i'm really, really glad to watch again.  college and nfl.  i'll watch on my phone sometimes.

i love watching baseball in person (especially my boys), and when the pirates aren't historically bad i'll watch a lot of their games.  this year, didn't have much interest in that, but watched a little here and there.  i haven't seen much playoff baseball because i significantly downgraded our cable package a few months ago, after i came to the huge realization that pretty much all we use it for is sports and we weren't using cable when sports weren't being played.  most playoff have been on the channels i no longer get.  i'll watch some of the world series games on the standard networks.

i watched the pens after the resumption of the nhl season, but when they're done, i usually have no interest in hockey.

haven't watched the nba in 25 years.  my 10 year old likes a few players, and he'll watch a few games every now and then.  i read that their commissioner said a few weeks ago they're ditching all the b.l.m. stuff next season.  ratings were down something like 50% for the semi-finals and finals.  bottom line . . . money talks, even for those trying to be as woke as they can be.

At the beginning of October, Consolidated raise our rates, and the cable bill for phone, internet, and TV hit $200, my wife said that's it! She pulled us back down to basic cable, which don't really pizz me off too much, but I did lose the Outdoor channel. There went all my fishin' shows. (Well, not quite all; still have the Sportsman channel).

It is better to have loved and lost than to live with a psycho for the rest of your life.

Got rid ov cable last month. Get a Vizio, smart tv or stream off Play Station or somethin'. Plus with Netflix, Hulu, tubi, watch free Vizio, Youtube and so on & so on. Way more tv than ever thought possible for pennies plus 60 local channels from the antenna. Purdy much watch what you want when you want.

Smart tv that can navigate YouTube easily, to me is better than any of the outdoor channels. Much less advertising and many have far more info. Hockey, basketball and soccer are basically the same sport, but different goals and ways to get to them. All are much better to watch live to see the build up that cameras miss. Baseball is like watching chess. A lot of strategy involved. Fun game to play, but puts me to sleep watching. Football seems to be made for TV. The stops between plays for replays and enough action to keep interest without being nonstop like the basketball, hockey & soccer formats.
