shenango outflow

shenango outflow

I read anarticle about trout fishing in the outflow and it seemed that it may be similar to the yough. anyone fish this section? what are the release numbers that are favorable to fish? Is it good fishing?

    It's excellent fishing and I consider seven gates (or less) at one foot each to be the maximum for wading.

    If you can fish a caddis its awsome absolutley INSANE! If no then your out of luck cause that s all that is down there. Its not uncommon t have 30+ fish days.

    ronnie i'm not sure what seven gates means I use the usace outfow http://wmw.lrp.usace.army.mil/current/forecast.html
     
    to watch the levels at the yough..i do appreciate the number and will try to figure it out. the fishing sounds great. the yough outflow is also a caddis situation. again all advice and info is appreciated

    Go to the River closing thread on this forum and scroll down to the pic of the dam, thats seven gates. Trust me, its normally not worth it to fish with seven gates down there I normally just wait for another day.

    If I look off the iron bridge and see the island upstream under water, I don,t fish. Don,t bother to look at the gates, there all open.

    i like it best when it is a little lower if you use caddis nymphs emergers or drys you'll kill them caddis is about the only thing that comes off in any numbers

    Ya, by far the caddis is the fly to use. Have done well swinging a white streamer.
