The entire city council of Seattle should be recalled and evicted from office. Stupid as can be, even the mayor now realizes that the police need certain restraints for crowd control, particularly when the crowd is an anarchist mob. Maybe the fire department can help out; bring on the water cannons! 47 cops hurt! Don't recall if that was Seattle or Portland, but the powers that be in the Pacific Northwest are just plum crazy.

I see where - here and there- the riotous anarchists are becoming armed.
That will make it a whole new ballgame if it goes on.

Neat how, one by one, many of these Socialist Mayors and Council members supporting the rioters are being dissed at home and in public by their own extremist minions.

The fire deptartment needs to break out the fire houses and the anarchists can use their umbrellas against that. A better suggestion would be the 101st airborne or even 3rd marine division.

Re: protest opinions 2020/07/28 09:35:05 (permalink)
The PD I retired from has a broad retirement window  ranging from 20 to 30 years of service- many are there for the long haul. I did over 28.
We are in Ct which is generally considered to be a Liberal sanctuary state with  Democratic control of the legislature for many years.
NOW they are very close to enacting one of the new Police Liability laws.
Gotta remember these laws are usually enacted by Democratic legislatures and decried by conservative lawmakers- Here the Dems say it does't go far enough and is only a minor change and the conservatives say it changes everything..
Only way to really tell IMHO is by the footsteps of those affected on the job.

That PD I retired from already has 30% of its members saying as soon as the law is passed they will retire.
Somehow, in this DEFUND culture in Lib cities, I gotta wonder if this is actually the  intent.

Re: protest opinions 2020/07/28 10:06:15 (permalink)
I guess it could be argued that is the intent. But what does that do financially with the legacy costs for people who may be retired and drawing on the system for pensions and perhaps post retirement healthcare, if that is still offered?

Oh, it either comes out of the money shifted from defund (now paying for officers to not work) or it raises taxes. And, in the future, what happens if (more like when) it is found that the defund experiment doesnโ€™t work and more officers are needed? Pay twice as much for the same number.

Re: protest opinions 2020/07/28 10:30:23 (permalink)
In this case I  served on the pension board , a number of years before the recent large Stock market increases, and the Fund was in very good actuarial condition even back then.
Not all towns and cities have been as diligent with legacy costs.
But thats just the cost of retirees.

The replacing of Officers is a costly and time consuming endeavor- in the past there was a private company in Ct that prequalified applicants for a fee and offered those qualified to departments looking for replacements, No more.
Since the great diminishing of Police pensions and after benefits numbers of folks looking to get on the job have greatly diminished making such a business obsolete.

Its back to the old days of advertising and interviewing and physically qualifying folks by each individual Department.
Back in the day a Department looking to hire a half dozen folks would have to test hundreds of applicants- no more- those on the job tell me there are far fewer applicants today.
The hiring process  becomes even more important with fewer to pick from.

After hiring a new employee must go through weeks of internal training for local methods and procedures of that Dept not to mention going to an Academy for months of training.
Then they can go on the street in the company of a training officer for a long time before being qualified to go alone.

The hiring process takes weeks to months and the training process easily takes a year more.
Some dont make it and for their openings the process repeats itself.

When many openings occur at once the costs of training and OT for those on the job filling required manpower levels are high.
Sooo when they defund or transfer money from a Dept and tirivialize those on the job the costs to citizens cannot only be counted in dollars but in  the levels security that we have become accustomed to.

Just take a look at NYC eliminating the street crime units and tossing a thousand person incoming officers class while diminishing the budget and constraining officers actions at the same time-
when John Q needs a cop it aint gonna be like it was.

Thank the Lib Dems for this and vote TRUMP

Maybe  they could just hire My war. He seems to know exactly how the job should be done. No training necessary. Just plug and play.
That is after he solves this pandemic thing, but that shouldn't take too much longer. He has the all answers, and they always start, and end with "anybody but Trump."

Welll, back to the basement  lol.

They are gettin what they asked  for.

Portland has enacted a fine of $500 for every 15 minutes the fence the feds put up around the Courthouse stays up.

Clearly the Socialist anti Govt  officials  in charge there WANT the Federal Courthouse  in ruin.

IMHO they, and their silent constituents, are no longer Americans.
I hope the Fed responds with a complete elimination of all federal dollars for any purpose to this third world Socialist  State that seems to be in the process of removing itself from this Country.

The ' police accountability act' has now passed the legislature and will soon become law in ct.
High Union official and a Rep rep  says it is likely the end of proactive police work in the state.
Officers will sit back and wait to be sent rather than look for trouble.
Many will simply retire or move on to other work.
Easy decision when you are not supported by the govt you supposedly represent.

Another neat part of the bill is NO MORE military equipment.
The Feds have giving away equipment they no longer need to local Depts for years.
Things like bullet proof vehicles or shields  and night vision so cops can get close to or locate active shooters or other dangerous people.
Buttt ya cant look tooooo military so just send in an expendable officer so when they  get shot it LOOKS good to the Socialists who decry that MILITARY look.
If you are a hostage or pinned down by one of those poor misunderstood shooters guess you are expendable too.
Cops are gonna get out in droves, it fulfills a Socialist wish--

Re: Protestor morons.. 2020/08/07 13:37:04 (permalink)
Been reading more and more about the Portland demonstrations- frankly George Floyd no longer has anything whatsoever to do with whats happening  and am tired of the obligatory paragraph about him in every single riot story from Portland and elsewhere.

These arent even riots anymore IMHO, they have become outright revolutionary attempts to overthrow the  govt as it exists and to insert some kinda marxist control.
They no longer even listen to local far out Dems and even badger and threaten them as not extreme enough.

They burn and loot and destroy, injure bystanders and officers alike in their zeal to cause criminal mayhem.
IMHO they should be treated as dangerous terrorists in every way.

They seem just a hop and skip from using weapons to accomplish their anti govt ideals --oooops- some already have.

Could you imajine the outrage if some white supremist group did this - however - under the cover of Floyd and BLM these insurrectionists  are allowed to get away with it with few arrests and most being set free by local lib prosecutors.

In regard to mail in voting.
I don't see how the postal service could handle the volume of mail that might be generated by using this method, not to mention how long after the election that an accurate vote count would be done. Also mail in ballots are inherently subject to fraud. If the election results are not fully certified by January 20th 2021, Nancy Pelosi will be sworn in as interim president until the election results are fully tabulated. Gee, wonder how long that would take???????????????

The ultra lib Portland Mayor who has so often backed up the anarchist 'protestors as they deface, loot and burn is in the political fight of his life.
A Woman who says  " I am Antifa" is giving him a hard run at re election and may well win.

Those  darned silly crazy Portlanders- wadda place to own a home or business or even vacation.

Then we can invade it.

How bout those Antifas who met their match after a Pro Police rally yesterday ?
Best video around.

OK -Chicago news--
Police get called to a man with a gun complaint- man shoots at police- Police shoot back and wound man-
Riot results  in high end downtown ( not the shooting area) with many stores getting looted - even somebody using a u-haul for their loot- looters carrying their goods to waiting cars outside and speeding off.
Very low police presence- clearly taken by surprise at this unrelated opportunity for criminals to break in and steal stuff.
Somebody shoots at Police and misses.

Lib University  makes a comparison of huge new firearm purchases across the Country with the rise in murder rates as if those criminals used legal guns and are legally carrying them.
Trying to blame citizens concerned with the likes of the Chicago incident for feeling the need to protect themselves  from those criminals doing insurrectionist stuff.

Hate to say it but IT is coming, and people like those Antifas who learned a bit of a lesson and those Socialist Professors who try and make John Q the bad guy are to blame.

George Floyd got noting to do with it,
