Natural selection? Would it be irony that Trump loses again in the next election, due to voters that have died from his spread of misinformation?

You would think that at some point, republican elected officials might have second thoughts about telling their constituents that covid isn’t real and vaccines are a lie. Because if too many of those voters die then they might lose elections.

But nope, doesn’t seem to be a concern yet.

Enlighten me.
How about naming a few.

Naming a few what? Republicans that have been lying to the public about covid and vaccines? How about “all of them”?

It would be a much shorter list if I named republicans that have actually been telling the truth about covid. Maybe Chris Christie.

Well, as was stated above..."the scamdemic is a cash cow for certain elite politicians..."

Sooooo, you can't blame him.  They go and get vaccinated and then sling the "horseshiit" to the masses.

Yea but thats the lying liberal media, don’t you know they are in on the scamdemic?

Real news sources like newsmax or oan would never run a story like that.

Re: Coronavirus opinions 2021/12/16 16:56:58 (permalink)
Yesterday, a 46 year old woman in our area (a friend of many friends of mine), passed away from Covid.  No underlying health conditions, at least anything major.  Two small children left without a mother and many friends of mine are heart broken over it.  I was hoping the worst was behind us, but it seems the Delta variant is causing a bit of destruction in the region right now.  Until now, I had only personally known of people in their 60s-90s succumbing, which was bad enough.  I had heard of other younger people, but I didn't know any.  I know a lot of younger people that caught it and a few that had it bad enough to go to the hospital.  This one was a bit of a shock, thinking we were pretty much over this.

I wasn't planning to get the booster, mostly thinking we were out of the woods on the Delta.  I'd pretty much just take my chances with Omicron.  Seeing photos of her kids (their father is a guy that I was friends with in HS but hadn't talked to since) changed things on my thought process.  Stay safe out there.

Re: Coronavirus opinions 2021/12/16 18:03:13 (permalink)
At its current pace, mid to late January Delta should be pushed out by Omicron as the dominant strain.   It is already widespread in the U.S., infects everyone, vaccinated or not (booster or not) and is hyper contagious (up to 70x more viral growth in bronchi).  Unless you are wearing a full on canister face mask with face shield, you are going to be exposed to it and likely get it.

Hoping and praying it stays as mild as they currently think it is because it will be a net positive if it does.  Hopefully it will hasten this current Delta wave with more pervasive but much more mild cases.
i am sure myself and my son were exposed to it last night at his basketball evaluations with 150 kids plus parents plus coaches all in the rec center.

Condolences on your friend.   My wife's step cousin, 46, young kids, is currently on a vent in VA fighting covid.  He has been in the hospital over a month and a half now.

The misery continues. Wonder if the initial Covid-19 and the various spinoff’s will ever be completely eradicated? Seems as though it may not be. Looks as though pork is going to get the booster. Probably a good idea 👍.

Re: Coronavirus opinions 2021/12/16 19:55:41 (permalink)
They say that the vaccine doesn’t do much in protecting you from Omicron, since the spike protein that is tricking your immune isn’t present. But getting a booster will trigger your immune system and have antigens active in your system. If infected while these antigens are in your system, they will fight it. Makes sense of how it would help, basically have to time it right... Speaking of timing, I hate the timing of this surging around the holidays again. I agree with what Eyes is saying about it getting pretty much everyone and hopefully “mild” for all or most. I just don’t want to be the one that gives it to a loved one that ends up with a case that isn’t as mild.

Hope your wife’s cousin pulls through. It is heart wrenching when kids are involved. Thankfully none of these variants seemed to target kids. But taking a parent from them is the next worse thing for them.

Thas terrible Tim. The wife and I are boostered. The 17 yr old is also and the middle girl will be 16 and eligible at the end of the month. Covid has been flying around the school. We have been lucky thus far, only one of the girls has been contacted traced and she never had symptoms. Good luck to everyone and stay safe.

Lots of people in my circle are getting it right now- co-workers, girlfriend’s co-workers, it’s going around my nieces’ school out in Beaver, a bandmate’s husband just got it bad (and he was vaccinated)… it’s not surprising though. It’s cold and flu season. I recently had to postpone ear surgery because I came down with something but it turned out to not be covid.

Those OTC rapid tests are super helpful if you start feeling sick. They’re not 100% accurate, but they should be good enough if you are symptomatic.

I got the booster. At Sam’s Club…. They have a bunch of the rapid tests there if anyone looking. I have two packs (2 in a pack). My daughter used one a few weeks back, not covid. Keeps from having to take days out of school for testing.

Those tests should be handed out for free and have a more than enough for everyone to take once per week if need be.

I drive around for like 2 hrs and hit 5 different drugstores before I found a couple. I don’t know if they’re still on short supply.

Yeah, I did that in October when my son was sick and trying to get him tested. I hit 4-5 places and found none. I actually ordered the tests from Wallyworld online after that to have on hand. I saw those at Sams and was debating to buy more. My buddy that lives in Denver said that they are free out there. The way it should be everywhere.

I really hope this was worth it. Got up at midnight to go to the bathroom, walked back to bed thinking my feet felt a bit cold. I then shivered uncontrollably for about an hour. Followed by what felt like 2-3 hours of waking up as soon as I would fall asleep. Got out of bed at 6 with 101.5 temp. Went back to bed around 7:30. Got up at 10:30 and I feel completely fine, besides my arm hurting…. I guess the tracking device in this shot must have gotten caught up in something?

I agree and anyone who listens to Biden is a fool.  All last year he complained Trump wasn't testing enough.  I guess it is still Trumps fault like everything else.

This is true. There is a roving band of immigrants in pittsburgh right now, flown in from the border by AOC herself, going door to door infecting people with covid tacos and enchiladas. It’s terrifying. God help us all.

Don't we let millions of untested and unvaccinated non-illegals drive and go all over the country?

I agree though, let's cut down on this. Let's mandate all unvaccinated individuals must get vaccinated. Illegal or not. Nips this one right in the bud and stops one of our major issues.
