Good luck to you as well. I will be out there with the 45/70 most likely overlooking a hillside covered in multiflora rose. Now if we could just catch a break in this darn wet weather. Long term forecast is for rain most of the first week, including the opener in this corner of the state.

Looks like I'll be dragging out the Bang stick myself. Missed a bruiser last Friday of archery. Still have snow on the ground but don't think it will still be there on Monday. Stay tuned.

No rain, me and one of the kids (coin flip) will be in the double ladder.  If it is going to be raining, I'll take the ground blind.  Come back at lunch time to get the other one and let them hunt the afternoon.  Good luck to everyone....

Bear hunters were out driving bear everywhere Sat.   Does anyone think this makes the bucks more spooked.  I know last year one bear drive they did put out lots of deer.  When we drove it out in doe season no deer came out of the drive.  Just saying.

Yes, I believe any pressure in the woods can change the patterns of the deer whether its hunting (all types), camping, hiking, ATV or horse back riding... I think the deer are in the general area but they may do deer things different after being pressured. The deer's #1 goal is to stay alive, I dont believe they recognize the difference between a hiker and a hunter.

The deer will return to their home areas after being pushed around. But they learn a bit each time they are pushed around. :-)

Still snow on ground and 1/4” ice on my seat of the one stand and 2” snow on top of that ... cleaned seat all off and raised it up guess I should have done that when I left last day of bow season. No movement on camera’s might be why no fresh tracks 🍺😜👍... like I said before good luck y’all

I've been hunting bears hard this season. Driving out standing corn fields. We put out a lot of deer. We managed a 452 lber on saturday. a 200 lber on Monday and a 100 lber today.

True.  My grandson said on the one bear drive they pushed out a monster buck.  Like you say Gene the buck just got a little bit smarter.

We got a foot + of snow here in the mountains and the place I park is not plowed and would be afraid of getting stuck in there.  Warm weather for the weekend may melt it up enough to park in there.

Looks like a good bit of rain here for Monday in this corner of the state. I think I am more upset for the rain they are calling for this coming Saturday. That is our big bonfire night at camp. Kielbasa and sausage over the open fire, swapping hunting tales, some Wild Turkey and cokes, a few good cigars. Man, would be a shame if rain ruined that!

Still have 5-6 inches of snow left here and now there is a hard crust on top.   Hopefully the weekend rains melt the snow and ice.   Don't want to hunt on an ice rink.

During the last three weeks of archery, I had 26 different shooter bucks on camera during the night, but zero during the daylight. The week after archery, there were five different shooter bucks on camera during the daylight.

I pulled cards yesterday and had three different shooter bucks on camera during the night again and none during the daylight.

I realize that could change rapidly with people in the woods, but since I surrounded by private ground with little pressure (an adjoining property is no longer open to any hunting), there won’t be many hunters out moving to roust the deer.

It is currently pounding down rain and I gave up my ground blind to a retired State Trooper ( in his mid 70’s), I think I’ll bag getting soaked and go into work (I had to be there by 11:00 anyway) and regroup for tomorrow.

Best of luck to all who went out there.

Unbelievable amount of ground soaking rain this morning. Yesterday I put my tree umbrella up,because sometimes I have trouble in the darkness it's fun getting old. At 8:11 my virgin ( buck) 6.5 Creedmoor barked. Decent body big 6 pts no brows. You'll just have to believe me because there's not going to be any pics. It did stop raining long enough to field dress him though.lol  Good luck guys, now Ohio needs to be worked on.lol

On my 40th opening day. I managed to kill my 1st buck on my own land, a plump 4x2. He came in chasing a hot doe with a small 8pt shadowing them. I’d post a picture but it won’t let me. On a side note it did stop raining long enough to do the dirty part and the tree umbrella was worth it’s weight in gold.

    Good luck everyone

    Mike
