Mopars as they say in the old country.."No pain, No gain"!

Question is, is the gain worth the pain and my answer is, if I gotta wade several hundred yards into the Pennsylvania Wilds to 'harvest' an elusive PA White Tailed Deer using a pointy stick..... screw that, I'm watching TV.

Give 'er hell buddy, I see you in the pictures, soon. 👍👍
you’re right there BTDT no pain no gain but as I sit here at Giant Eagle parking lot in Franklin waiting for my better half to come out with our weekly groceries I am noticing a lot of dark clouds that do not look very promising . Was loving the blue skies and sunshine that we had a little while ago but now that seems to be gone. I’m kind of thinking to myself as I sit here watching the hillside that splits the Allegheny River with the very dark clouds ...I can conclude one thing and that will be I think I’m gonna go hunting tomorrow, there has to be something I can find to watch on TV… Right? So in closing I wish you the best of luck if you go out and swing in your stand tonight looking for that white tail PA dear … Good luck to y’all later

Steve I see exactly what you are saying and thanks for those memories of the view from the parking lot.

I just looked at the radar cause the dark sky I see aint looking friendly but the clouds appear to be trucking to the northwest of me.

Stupid wind direction destroyed my plans for today. The White Tail Deer I been watching are bedding between the edge of the bayou and the field where those goofy acting cornstalks stand. The distance between the field and waters edge where the deer bed, is 100 yds. at best.

I had hoped to get on the southeast edge of the field and nestle down in the Goldenrod sitting on my newly acquired folding stool and greet the darling white tails when they come out to play, musical cornfield later today.

But nooooo, the stupid wind decides it's gonna come from the southwest putting me downwind of the stupid deer. Thanks for nothin, stupid wind.

Welp, still got time to back up and regroup or just drop back twenty and punt.

Anything good on TV?

Wow is l I can say about the wind. It was howling at first light and came from every possible direction this morning. Hunting a ground hooch and was rewarded with a Potter County spike and 4pt. I've got a bushel basket of horns like that from,Potter,Forest,Venago,Butler and WV from the old days.lol It's looking better for tomorrow wind and rain.lol Oh the deer God's aren't shinning on me yet. If it wasn't the rut I'd start fishing.lol I yet to see any rutting activity. Just lonely bucks cruising. Things gotta pick up.  Was going to go behind the house but its raining pretty good here. What's new!

Got out for the last 2hrs. kicked up a doe on the way in and saw a 4pt while on stand. My wife saw a couple bucks chasing does around the yard this morning.

Congrats to your wife anzomcik! Nice buck and it looks like it was a family affair 👍.

Took the climber to sit on a scrape line that leads to the apple tree where my camera is this evening. Got a few decent buck starting to show up on the camera in the evening, so I had high hopes that one of them would show up. Was dead until 545 when some movement caught my eye. Was pumped that this deer was playing right into the setup, but it ended up being a 1 horned spike. Climbed down at 7 after seeing nothing else. Back at it in the am.

Sat in my blind from 3:30 til dark an' when I went to get up and leave, my feet were asleep, my legs were numb and my asz was stuck in my seat.

Anyways, I did have a 2.5 yr old 4 up walk within my 35 yd range.  Problem was, two points was up on one side and the other two was up, on the other side.  But I ain't sayin a word, about the stupid ARs.

Antlerless were only a few today but doing the same thing as last night... stupid stuff like staying too far away.

I too fail to see any hard signs of the rut and think some bucks might be herding their harem attempting to guard them while others still search, and will begin marking their turf while advertising their presence by scraping and rubbing.  I've yet to see any swollen necks or any darkened tarsal glands on either antlered or antlerless white tailed deer.  Also, the buck I've seen may be chasing but continue to feed and I'm pretty sure that ain't normal when a buck wishes to do-si-do.

Had a visit from Mr. woodchuck today and I'd like to tell yinz 'bout the conversation we had but I'm thinkin yinz might not care to hear about  "How much wood can a wood chuck chuk……...

Good look fellers and fellrettes ……….

Up and ready to get at it in a few. Unfortunately, accuweather shows a large slow moving blob of rain on the radar again this morning. Ugh...another damp day.

Good luck and stay dry

With six 1/2 day sits in and the next deer I see being the first one (they are there in the dark, just nothing in the daylight yet), I decided to take Daphne (our female Pointer) and two friends pheasant hunting yesterday instead of numbing my behind again. We did manage to limit out, but it took 4 hours and total whooped all involved.

Heading out for deer momentarily. If it is not raining, it will be the treehouse in the creek bottom (typically better in the AM), but if the sky is leaking, it will be the ground blind on the field edge because I’m not into getting soaked.

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

Ya been readily since 6:30 but it keeps raining harder than I thought. Looks like I'll be heading out in about a half hour, according to the radar. Saw two bucks yesterday after 9:00 am. Good year to hunt ducks and mushrooms.

Forced myself out of bed early this morning taking a quick look outside and to my surprise no rain, falling from the sky.😏

So I'm sitting at my favorite deer stand, peering into the field, eyes yet not wide open enjoying my first fresh Keurig brew.

Having read many of yinz thread, I thought I'd give this early hunt a try but that's when I said, much to early for me getting out of bed, it's only 8:00 AM.

See yinz sometime after five... PM😴

4 minutes past noon, feet hitting the floor, I must be still dreaming, looking outside and there's blue sky.

Went for another of those fresh Keurig brews when turning toward the couch, the sky is now blacked and raining outside.

Spent from 1:00 PM till 4:00 PM hunting homes for sale, in the Tamarack area. Arrived at my home about 4:30 where I wolfed down an Arby's Venison sandmidge and 4 them tater thingys. Wellll OK, was really a Giro but this is my story, and I can pretend what I want it to be.

Deer have been entering the corn field right around 5:15 so after a few chews and a couple of gulps it was grab the bow and into field I go.

Welp 5:15 came and went and so did 5:30 but at 5:45 I learned why no deer could be seen.

I was nearly toooo relaxed when from the depths of the bayou came Kr-Pow, Kr-bang and KA-Blewie!!! Once again, sitting straight up in my chair what the hell is going on back there and the answer came KA-Pow KA-Bang Kr-Blame!! Good Grief I've been surrounded by water fowl hunters I said KA-Boom Kr-bang........ KA-Blewie once again.

Well just my luck, guys in here hunting duck. Welllllllp I'll just be..... darned!!!

Needless to say no deer today.

Well. Slowest November on record for me. Two almost full days sits and zero deer. Not sure what the hay is going on. Sitting my best stands that haven't been sat all year too!

Getting used to the rain. That's for sure. My tree umbrella is getting a workout! The good news is Monday is another day. The bad news is it is supposed to rain Monday morning again. Yeah!

Hunted 2:00 pm till past shooting time, let me explain,my arrow was in the quiver. I had the most obnoxious doe around me from 5:00 pm,she just would come in to 20 yards and snort then take a couple hops and settle down then 15-20 later she would do it again and again and again and again. I walked out well past dark and she was still going at it. I'll remember her I still have 2 doe tags.lol Well I didn't shoot a buck yet but I ate some tenders tonight from my sons buck. Maybe if I eat more deer I'll smell like one.lol I really can't believe she smelled me, took a showered minutes before hunting, sprayed down all my clothes, boots, gloves, and hat. One smart swamp donkey. Like dpms said there's always Monday.

Mopars do like me. Make up your sanmidges before going to bed telling your betterhalf the sanmidges is for going hunting tomorrow then neak to the fridge after the wife falls asleep.

Just gotta member to get up in the morning before the wife so you can tell her you changed your mind about hunting and you ate the sanmidges for breakfast. Priceless👍👍👍

Woke up early to a nice cool crisp morning. Light frost and best of all, no rain. Thought to myself all right, maybe ill see some big ones moving this morning and not get soaked.....then I remembered its Sunday. Stupid no Sunday hunting!! Guess ill have to settle for splitting wood instead. No worries though, looks like the rain and high winds will be back again this week to finish out the season.

By the way. I just realized the other day that the statewide archery season ends on a Monday this year. That's kind of odd??

Decided to sit in my upstairs bedroom blind and watch the field for any deer signs. To add insult to injury on this beautiful morning, I just watched a nice 8pt calmly stroll up my driveway to said apple tree where my camera is, then along side and behind my cabin about 30yds into the woods right where I setup the climber. Ugh.....

G😱😱D GRIEF Crappie_Slayer thank you ever so much for posting today is Sunday. I knew there was a reason I should of stayed in bed.

Also wish I wouldn't have ran out on the deck to get shots of the sunrise this morning. IT WAS 30 degrees at the time and as if standing in my FRUIT OF THE LOOMS wasn't stupid enough but a heavy frost coated the deck and my feet stuck to the floor.

Weather dude says mid to upper fifties and no rain today.

Pretty picture some may think but what is it they say, about the weather on the way, when the sky is pink in the morn?

But hey things could be worse, just think of the curse, had the picture been one of, a selfie. 😱😱

Best day of the week SUNDAY. Woke up at 5:30 the usual. 6:30 clear, crisp, and calm no wind no rain.lol What a beautiful day,I plan on driving to Ohio for an afternoon sit. The big guys should start thinking about producing offspring by now. I'm past ready to send one home,it's been a tough year for this old man. Only thing of concern is I can't bring a dead deer into the state. Hmm options, field quarter the deer and leave the spinal cord and neck and head or find a deer processor. Can't bring a trophy head into the state either. Probably my last year in Ohio, they increased the license to $ 200 and plan on raising it to close to $300 in two years. The money not the main issue,it the legal transport of deer back home and I can't bring my head into the state. All because some deer farm in another country has cronic wasting away disease. I think the real reason is money $100 deer cutting,$550 taxi, license $200 =$850 all spent in Ohio. I received a postcard from the PGC reminding me that it's illegal to bring a deer from Ohio into the state. I can see keeping the deer herd healthy. But I hunt a spot in Pa. that one side of the road is Ohio and one side is Pa. I've shot about 20 deer from my stand though the years there and about half of them crossed the road from Ohio to Pa.  lol

Ain't that the truth. Our dumb, archaic hunting laws in this state that some wish to cling too for some reason. We are bleeding hunter participation and folks want to keep people out of the woods that still want to hunt.........

Anyway, the season ends on Monday this year because its Veterans day. An official govt holiday that few have off so the PGC figured might as well extend the season a day to let them enjoy the outdoors. The regular folks are left to use a vacation day if they choose. I took a vacation day.

BT maybe more of keeping a PA resident from buying out of state license and using it to say the deer they powdered illegally was shot in another state?

Also in the Buckeye, where we both know the "racks" are much bigger, it wasn't illegal to cut the heads from road kill. I say wasn't cause I do not know if OH changed the laws.

Anyways, the laws suck for the honest hunter but you know what they say about 'one bad potatoe......".

Personnaly, I think the CWD is over played to fit the agenda of the PGC.
