Crooked Creek

Does anyone know if they plan on opening the launch this year?  Why has it been closed?

    Yes they do, water levels have been to high for them to fix the problem which I believe is a collapsed culvert. Those crappie should be getting fat with pretty much no pressure

    I fished from shore yesterday for a few hours and hammered crappie, though most were undersized. I did catch a few larger crappie, but they still seemed a little thin for their length. Regardless, it was a good time.

    Thanks for the info.  Maybe this will be a blessing in disguise.   10 years ago the crappie were much bigger on average.  If they were not 12+ inches it seemed like a waste keeping them.  Now their seems to be a pile of fish but no size to them.  Maybe they need thinned out? or just a year of less pressure for them to grow>?

    they are so plentiful, I'd be willing to bet they just need thinned out some.

    I was just there last Wednesday . The ramp is good , but the dock is all but falling apart . Also , WARNING : Be aware of floating and slightly submerged logs in the water ! We almost clipped one heading back to the launch . You have to be very careful in this lake to not hit debri !

    4x4dad ,C.C lake like most flood control dams is prone to floating debris after hard rains. Prob. best to stick to natural lakes during wet periods.   sam

    Thanks Sam . I haven't been boating in 25 years . This particular lake was new to me . I used to spend time in my younger years up in Brady's Bend on the Allegheny river . I know to watch for debri after heavy rain , but I've  never seen it that bad anywhere I've ever been before . Live & learn I guess .
