It’s a bit cold yet for most of the species available by surf fishing in the main lake. If you’re set on making a trip, I’d try for Walleye along the trib mouths after dark with plugs and spoons. A couple more weeks and you’ll see a few Smallies and Channel Cats close to shore, then by June there should be Drum, White Bass, and White Perch, too. Good luck!

The word Shorewood brings back so many memories. When I was a kid (I'm 70 years old) my Dad and his buddies owned a house trailer at Shorewood. They also had a wooden boat which was at least 18 to 20 feet long, 4 to 5 feet wide and 3 or 4 feet deep. We would go out and fill wire fish baskets with perch and blue pike. Sometimes you could catch 2 at a time, sometimes one of each. They would always filet them at the end of each day and then freeze the filets after eating our fill. Wonderful memories!

I'm old enough to remember Blue Pike dinners. Fabulous eating.
