I caught a stupid fish, but at my age, I can't remember if it was this year.

Getting to Erie tribs for the first time with my oldest two kids and catching fish.

Also getting a nice spot and finding over 100 fresh fish...just for me and a buddy!

We had the honor of taking a bunch of vets fishing with us this summer, but I must admit the first trip stood out...we had a lady vet in her 70s who had never fished the lake and admitted she was nervous about the trip. The look on her face when she brought in her first fish was worth every hour spent rehabbing our new (to us) Erie boat. She soon forgot about the nervous part and we had a great day, she went back out with us on 2 other trips so made it even better!

Watching my 7 year old fight a hot chromer rfresh from the lake on Elk Creek never gets old. Neither does watching my 14 year old work his magic with the fly rod on the tribs.

My older son and I spent a week in July trout fishing in Colorado. That's a tough one to top for 2017 or any year for that matter. Didn't catch any huge fish but man the experience out there is just incredible.

My younger son and I finally caught some keeper redfish in the salt in Mississippi this summer. Our family's favorite fish to eat by far. We have caught lots of close to legal ones and I've caught keepers on a couple charter trips before, but doing it ourselves was pretty memorable. Doing it in the aftermath of a tropical storm that dumped 10" of rain in 24 hours and wrecked the near shore water made it a little more satisfying.

We caught some cobia and redfish this summer at obx. It can be tough to find the keeper reds-many times ours were too big! But our boat captain gave a couple what he called a “haircut” on the fin to get them legal. You are right dave-deelish!

First time checking out Emerald Isle, NC this summer.  Got into a nice variety of fish, but not in great numbers.  Had far too many break offs, that would have made for an excellent trip if landing most.  All and all, that was the highlight of a rather pedestrian fishing year for me.  Got into enough fish locally, but like most, just not enough free time to get out like I'd like to.

The 400 jumbos that came home with us for dinner. Just some unbelievable perch fishing in the bay last February,March and April. If you like perch P.I was the place last year. Hopefully some of the snow blows away or melts so we can get on the ice up there soon.

Almost forgot about that trip. We slammed the perch as well. Bit chilly on the boat, but was well worth it.
