Some things I truly remember . Most all of them if I was involved, I'm always at fault. Good, bad or indifferent. If I can say I'm done learning, I'm probably not breathing .
I sure hope fishing goes well for Jack and anyone that may cross his paths.
I was looking through quick fun times on my pictures , in particular this coho. It's amazing how many stories my picture portfolio has of various amazing people I've met sharing a love of fishing.
So here is my Halloween morning coho some days back.
Also a TB boarding on the daisy.

Fish well folks.

Guide reporting improving King numbers and the 'possibility' of a major run coming with 1 to 3 thousand fish a day.

Yep- hope they can sleep well.

Caught the bastard. Fisher..
Tough day of no fun. My Dr says I need a swab stuck up my nose before I get a hose stuck up my azz, then a tube down my stomach. Wtf..
To top things off, my flooring is turning south and the cost continues to rise.
Honestly, I can't wait for 2020 to be over.

I certainly hope you find some pot of gold Jack..

Instead of just killing it, although I wanted to, I took it 5 miles away and released it along the river.

Got any better pics of that thing. It looks like a possum. I never saw a fisher that light of a color

Sounds like a great day on the DSR yesterday and reports of an Estuary still heavily populated with fish may indicate more to come.
Congrats to all who were there to experience it as many of us here have in the past from time to time.
There is nothing like it and it stays in the memory cells forever----

Hope it indicates a decent year -

That guide projection I mentioned kinda negatively a day or so back was spot on

Last year had a push or two early as well and the season IMHO was pretty much a bust after that.
Had little to no luck upriver.
Not like the old days- yea warm low water  slow things but ya gotta have some numbers too in order to have a decent year no matter the conditions.

Hope it happens as it hasnt in any big way  for a season or two.-- unless your in a below 81 conga line.

Re: fun stuff 2020/10/02 10:34:28 (permalink)
In days of old fishing reports from SR were the stuff of fantasy- always HOT and EPIC .
Sometimes it was that way and sometimes not.
In recent years the run is a shadow of those huge number old days when even snagging was legal and many thousands of anglers showed up.
Reports v/s reality were often discussed here and over time we applauded the fact that they had eventually become realistic and honest.

Basically one push does not make a run however in these leaner fish years reporting makes it appear otherwise.
FISHERPERSON reports seem more accurate and according to the very few of them its picky at best in mid to upper river right now.
Pro reports however are consistently pushing the top to bottom good fishing line.
Like most things in life history repeats itself.

Go up and have a nice time IMHO the Sr is great no matter the fish.
Ya can squeeze in down low in a conga line or go up and fish- no matter its  nice place to be

Just dont always buy into reports- did that once- took time from work and family made quick reservations- got up there took a look around and went to the shop giving the hot report- they claimed they hadnt seen anything in a while  (BS alert)- immediately checked outa the room and drove back to Ct the same day.

Saved my vac time and money till there were some fish and learned a valuable lesson.

r3g3,that about sums it up,I left a day early cause the catching was zero and I had other things to take care of,you are so right, the SR is a gorgous river and I enjoyed my time there with the fall color and pleasant weather.Too bad the stream is so low and warm.maybe god willing next year will be better

Rich,I did n't play with any, zero, zilch! I didn't see many others playing with any.It was the worst trip, catching wise ,but as I said the fishing was great. Now I'm hoping the streams out west get some much needed rain or the whole end of 2020 will be a bust

I wonder how the hatchery is doing. With low water and a gauntlet to get through I'd assume its gonna be tough.
A co worker was there last weekend and said it was absolutely insane with people, worst he's ever seen. People securing a spot at 3:30am and a line of people on the bank just waiting for an opening.
Not my cup of tea..

Re: fun stuff 2020/10/06 11:00:31 (permalink)
Sooo- bought a new GMC Acadia AT4 -Love it- all the bells and whistles including free On Star for a month.
Well this AM wifey takes her new vehicle to a Golf Tournament a good distance outa town.
Half hour after she leaves I get a computor message from OnStar saying that she has only 14 pounds of air pressure in her left front tire,
As she is out on the highway and I call her immediately- she says there are no in car alerts about this as one would expect in a modern fully equipped vehicle as soon as she got to the venue she looked over the tires and said nothing looked outa the norm.
OK, now I gotta go check it out sooo- load the air tank into my truck and go the the parking lot at the far off Golf Course.
Get in the car after looking at 4 normal looking tires and check the computerized air pressure gage-
All is just fine- leave her a note and go back home and read the message gain.
Seems that along with the BS pressure alert there is a lot of BS about buying On Star permanently.
I will NEVER buy On Star and fully intend a nice conversation wit the dealership ASAP.

Inconvenienced- annoyed and alarmed at what seems to have been backhanded sales pitch

Re: fun stuff 2020/10/06 11:43:56 (permalink)
I had On Star in my vehicles ever since it came out. The idea was because of the distance I was driving to work (50+ miles), often at night, in areas that had sketchy cell service at best, the crash notification was worth the $10 bucks a month. I probably never used any of the features that came along with it other than the hands free calling on occasion.

Fast forward to October 2019 and the cost is now about $25 per month and I’m no longer making that commute. I’m sitting at a stop light for several minutes when a drunk driver rear ends me without even braking. My Equinox, with my foot solidly on the brake for the red light (never saw him coming), was hit so hard that it got not only shoved across the wide, white intersection line, but halfway across the crosswalk lines. His vehicle was smashed to the point that his dash was bent.

In the end, there was over $24,000 worth of damage to my vehicle (which was 6 months old) — darn near enough to total it.

So, I’m paying bills and I have the habit of going over every line of credit card statements and there is the charge for On Star. And I started to think — I called 911 after the accident on my cell. On Star’s voice never came on. In other words, I got hit test hard and the crash notification that was the sole reason I paid for the service all those years had not worked at all.

I then canceled On Star and the call center person couldn’t understand why.

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

I spoke to a guy that said he somehow gained access to Beaver Brook and walked it down to the SR and it had no fish, very shallow at the junction. But I called the hatchery a few days before I got there and they said they had fish but not tons of them??????

Being technologically  challenged I tried to copy the message and deleted it- so I called On Star for a resend.
Told them what happened and now they claim the cant find the message for the resend as it must have been 'computer generated' BS  BS - blame the computer.

NOT a very reputable business IMHO.

Oh yea- they also tried- twice- to sell me a long term package- lol.

Wish I was on the upper  river this coming week- some nice reports from down low of late.
As time passes this may be about as good as it gets this year.

Annn one facebook fisherman says upriver is still pretty lousy  despite low reports.

next week up there ????
