Coyote down

Got my first Coyote ever trapping. Got it in a cable restraint. Unfortunately it showed early signs of mange so I was not able to do anything with it . That puts my trapping numbers to....1 Coyote 5 fox and 11 coons for the year. Pics on the way

Yotes are smart but not about the cable. You need some snow on the ground, find their trails, they love holes in a fence and culvert under highways. Got 7 in two weeks and had one undo a cable extension two winters ago. Did not do it this year, been bunny hunting. Get them all.

Congrats. A coyote any way is an accomplishment. I have a dozen cables but have yet to sit for the certification. I need to do that this year.

I did the skull on one of mine myself and it came out very nice.

Eman, I have shot three and been in on couple more kills and they were all mangy.  One had almost no hair and was all scaby and had rat tail. Made you sick to look at it.

It was just the start . 4 inches of tail everything else was prime... sucks but it can be contagious to humans so what can you do

On a side note. Last week five Otters were in the pond-lake behind the house. Then three days ago  I cut Bobcat tracts behind the house. There are some Rabbits behind house perhaps not for long. I always pile cuttings and brush for the bunnies and wherever I have lived it has increased the bunny population.
