Just My Luck.

How great is this, I'm already excited and eagerly awaiting some great bird hunting this year and, getting to watch "man's best friend" work fields and forest, I get a preview of my two best friends already at work.

Good woodchuck dogs are hard to find and worth their weight in gold.
Not many folks are lucky enough to have ONE much less TWO.

Pointing breeds are notorious woodchuck hunters and killers. The circle their prey until it gets complacent about them, then the grab the hog behind the head and give it a hard enough shaken to snap its neck.

My first experience with dogs was pointing pheasants in South Korea, once I got back to the states it was bunny hunting behind beagles,  my best duck hunting was with my Splash Girl.  There is NOTHING like hunting with your dogs.  Honest to ****ing christ, whether they produce that day or not, they're with you through thick and thin all day long.  My god I miss that.

I've raised German Shorthaired Pointers for twenty years and I yet to have one that didn't mind digging the critters out of the ground.

I guess it's their way of staying in shape for bird season. 😛

'cept this one is gun shy. Sigh!!

Darned chuck is still in the tree, afraid it's time for a lead sleeping pill.

He heee he..........  couldn't happen to a better guy Jigs.

Awwww, get your finger off that button, I'm just fuunin' ya.   He he.

Purchase a quart or two of 3% Peroxide and a quality sprayer, I save sprayers from spent "Fantastic" bottles, they will fit into the Peroxide bottles and the caps will tighten.

Some recipes call for mixing "Baking Soda",  with a detergent,  and the Peroxide then washing the dog  but I've had great success, spraying the dogs straight from the bottle.   If your out hunting there isn't always a good place or even water to wash the dog until you get home.

Same holds true if you are sprayed or anything else gets whacked, Peroxide will kill the odor upon contact.    Stash a few quart bottles of plain water and use the sprayer for a quick rinse.

It works, you can take it to the bank!

PS. Chuck is still in the tree.

Peroxide will also kill nerve endings in a dog's nose. It is a big no-no anywhere on a hunting dog.

Peroxide is not recommended by some Vets, for cleaning wounds on any animal.

Sorry I didn't mention "not to spray" the solution up the animals nose or into your pets eyes.  But, there are those that need pictures, I guess.

I always washed them down with tomato juice than hosed them off. Sometimes it had to be done several times to work.

I always keep a container of Skunk Away in the medicine cabinet in my kennel.
