Steelhead fishermen catching brown trout
I'm curious if any caught brown trout in October. I caught one at trout run.

I only made 4 trips up this year but caught no browns. The only creek I fished was Elk.

I spotted a few but never saw any caught. The ones I'd see posted on Facebook, etc were all dead or on stringers. Maybe there'd be more and bigger ones if every fish caught wasn't put on a rope. At the same time, they stock was less of them than steelhead so that also has a lot to do with it.

Most years I catch a few in the tribs that are in the 12-14" range. Most likely holdovers from annual spring stockings. My son has caught a few 16-18" browns in the lake at a creek mouth, but no big ones. In fact, I don't recall ever seeing a big one caught while I've been there.

Go to uncle johns camp. They are notorious for roping up browns and 16inch steelhead that never get a chance to grow.

The early spring of 2015, I caught what I would estimate to be a 7 lb. brownie at the Waterworks on Presque Isle. I was fishing right off the edge of the wall for perch. Returned to fight another day.

You want Browns go to N.Y. and fish those slow current, muddy creeks ......tons of em ! They fight slow and hard nothing like a Steelhead more like a big Catfish. Nice looking colors in Fall. Not worth keeping unless your after a trophy !
