New to the forum...

Just dropping a post since I am new to the forum. Although I live in Virginia, I used to go to Penn State and still have family in the Altoona/Bedford area... My family has hunting land in Bedford County as well. When I was in college I loved fly fishing Yellow Creek at the FFO only section. The Little J was also a favorite of mine. I also love Raystown Lake. I read a lot of your posts and really enjoyed them. These days I don't get to make it up to PA to fish more than a dozen times or so but enjoy each and every trip. Down here in VA I mostly bass and catfish and do a lot of saltwater fishing on the Chesapeake Bay{stripers(or as they call them in the Bay rockfish), bluefish, spanish mackerel, sea trout, drum, croaker, flounder}. Anyone interested in coming down to VA, about a 3.5 hour drive from the Altoona area let me know... I'll show you some of my honey holes down here. Look forward to some great fishing stories!

Travis

Trophy rockfish(striper) season starts about mid April and runs til mid May. Then it's mostly what we call schoolie rockfish. Average about 18" but go up to around 26". You can also catch monster croaker that time of year as well. That's just the start of the fishing year on the Chesapeake...

    cjbs 2003,
Welcome to my nightmare, I'm sure you're gonna like it here. Actually, wish I could fish the bay more often. Haven't done so in years.  Way too many years.

You know that you can't go in April, that is deer scouting time for two years from then.
