Creeks

Anyone wanna take a guess if the creeks will be fishable after the rain and warmer weather the next couple of days.

My wife said I golfed too much...so I started fishing.

I'm guessing that its going to take more than just a couple of days of warmer weather & rain to break up the ice.  The forecast is predicting temps to go back down into the mid 20s again by Wed.  For the rest of the week, temps in the 30s and lows in the 20s.  My guess would have to be that the ice will be staying for awhile longer.  I could be wrong.....Good Luck.

    Folks,

I looked at Walnut Access Area today at lunch.  There is a ton of ice.  One die hard was ice fishing on the channel in front of the wall. Peering down at the many ice fishing holes, it appeared that the ice on the channel was 5 to 7 inches thick.  There is only a ten foot wide open section that is not blocked by the sand and gravel bar at the mouth of the creek.  I believe that if the water did come up, it would have to come up very high to push all of that ice out.  There was a decent flow today, but the water was crystal clear.  Places upstream that had open water had ice underneath it.  I did see 4 guys standing on the ice, fishing in a 2 foot wide open spot.

I saw Elk today around Rt. 20.  The middle portion of the stream was open with large chunks of ice flowing but like Chris said, with the temps dropping back down below freezing it will lock back up quickly.
