Carp Hooks

I've been using 2xh sz 6 down eye nymph fly tying hooks for my hair rigs for carp with good success. I've only had a few come unbuttoned from those hooks, and that's trying to horse them out of snags with 30lb line.

If you're using hair rigs, as you can see with both our examples, short shank x heavy down eye is the general consensus. I can't find carp hooks in stores. so I just found the closest looking hook I could off the shelf at the store. And they've been working well. Sometimes I do fish corn on a hook while sight fishing smaller water. Just 1 or 2 pieces, no weight and a size 8 or 10 either gama octo or blackbird hook. Ul gear, tight quarters, lots of fun that way. That's what started me fly fishing for them.

I've been using their hooks and tying my own hair rigs with them.  Best hooks i've ever seen, far better than what you'll normally find at your local bait shop or big box retailer.  I normally use Gamakatsu hooks for most of my fishing but they seem dull compared to the Gardner hooks.  Size 4 or 6 is what I normally use, their Covert Talon hooks are what I was using.
