Thanks for the update, and positive good news Pa Fisher. I got some dirty looks from some folks wanting to hit the early ice  when it was forming, then got rained off in the warm up when I said," At least it isn't hurting Tamarack".

UPDATE.........

From:    https://westmead.org/tamarack-lake-update/

Thomas Construction of Grove City, PA was awarded the project and construction meetings have taken place with CONSTRUCTION THAT BEGAN IN LATE NOVEMBER OF 2017.  Estimated time line includes a completion date expected to be at the end of December of 2018.

As both Tamarack Lake Dam areas are now considered a construction site, please remember no one is permitted to be on site other than Thomas Construction employees and subcontractors.  The property is not available to the general public.  Please remember to slow down when traveling in the area and to keep a safe distance from the construction site, as there will be slow moving, big construction equipment and lots of large trucks hauling materials in and around the area.

Good to see a local contractor landed the work and even better (short of a typo) a projected completion date of 12/18.  But certainly even with overruns in time, completion in early 2019 can be expected.  I hope.

Work to both dams being completed too.

This is great news. I'm currently shopping for a house up around them parts. A lake a few minutes away would make it even better!

Not much to report except work continues and it was too darned muddy for me to leave my vehicle and do some snooping on foot. Only real activity was some surveying on one dam sight (no pun intended😏) but work is definitely progressing. Would be a great job to serve as the "Clerk of The Works".

Mike thanks for posting the link. Sure is exciting to see the work taking place.

I would also like to give a big hearty thank you to the folks like Karen Lippert and "The Friends of Tamarack" for seeing the project through. 🍻

Tamarack Lake enthusiast should be happy (I am) as work looks to be progressing well.  The following pics were taken with an ipad by fishin coyote, as he was out-and-about, seeing what kind of conditions the conditions was in.

As does others, I have tons of memories fishing Tamarack and it's good to see through the efforts and hard work by "Friends of Tamarack" the future will bring memories to many many others.

Thanks Mike for taking the time to snap, and allowing me to post, some great pictures.

Felllow fisherman,
I'd like to have gotten some better pics but can say they are really moving a lot of dirt around especially on the north end. Hopefully the weather holds out and they can get it finished before the deadline. I'd guess that we may be able to fish it again in 2020

Hahaa.... Mopars, We been looking in the area of Tamarack but there ain't a lot of "lake front" property we found to date. Lots of lovely homes in the general area and several fixer uppers but nothing that reaches out and says welcome home.

Talked with one real estate agent (shady looking character) said he had some land for sale. He said I'd have to wait to build if I bought the property. Give some construction outfit time to relocate a lot of heavy equipment first.

Hell of a deal too!! 😈

As they say in the old country "a picture is worth a thousand words".

Well if that be the case, here is a hell of a story and I'll just leave it to yinz to try and figure out, just what in the hell, I'm trying to say.

The fishing pier patiently awaits.

Great picture Capt. but the memories go well beyond the pier.

From your picture turn to your left, the old barn with the milkhouse. The barn with leaky wooden rowboats along lakeshore and, on the milkhouse, a sign reading bait.

Standing on shore, before dawn's early light, hear the skree skra of the oar locks, as I row a leaky wooden row boat never more ~ Tamarack memories.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Oh what memories that picture brings back. Back in the day I heard how good a chartreuse D-T4 was. I searched all over until I finally found one on e-bay. With shipping and all, I paid $9 bucks for it. Half way down the right side of that pier I made my first cast with it A couple cranks of the reel and strike, and a second after that, snip, and my 9 dollar chartreuse D-t4 was cut off by a musky. Thanks Captain...

Re: Tamarack Lake............ 2018/11/14 07:36:30 (permalink)
My son is now 28 yrs old and we fished Tamarack one fall when he was in high school so about ten + years ago. We trolled and casted for Musky. We ended the fall boating 14 and one 26 in eye. One evening we boated 5 and lost a couple. We had a ball and returned them all. I was going to keep one the last day we fished and hooked one not two minutes after launching. I released it as it was just a whisker shy of 40 inches and I figured we were going to crush them that evening. That being the last year of 30 inch is legal I figured a shorter one would taste better. That was the last hit we had and the last time we fished Tamarack. Good memories.
