Does anyone use 100 yard filler spools of flourocarbon for leaders instead of pre made tapered leaders?

I don't put anywhere near 100 yards of flouro on the tippet spools but I do the same as H3Fisher.   Works fine for me.

When the subject of leaders comes up in December, cabin fever has officially set in.

I make a 25lb. butt about 36" then a 24" 15lb. section , tie on a small ring or the smallest swivel I can buy (they do make a 15lb test ) that is really small. Then tie 3 or 4ft. flro. tippet to the swivel. I use regular Maxima for the butt . I can usually use the same butt all season. Works for me.

There will be days when fishing is better than ones optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.
