I was thinking of ordering the terra royal coachman fly tying kit from FISHUSA..now this is my first go round at tying and im starting off simple with a basic starter kit, egg patterns and sucker spawns. Any reviews or recommendations?

    Skip it.

The materials & vice in kits are of terrible quality.  None of it will be useful for you.  Crappy materials result in crappy flies.  Spend the money on a class instead, you'll be way ahead of the curve that way.  Because there is a learning curve.  Some pick it up fast, some take years, depends on how good you are at working with your hands.

Thanks for the input any good material sites (beside fishusa)? I would really like to be proficient and i agree with you that lower quality materials would most likely make it difficult

I looked at the materials on Fish USA, and they are comparable to what you'll get in a lot of places and a lot of the prices beat all the shops I've been in lately.  D-nymph is right though, buy good tools, especially a good vise, and then take a class.  Check the closest TU chapter, they usually do that this time of year, or after the holidays.
