Tailwaters Kinzua dam

Checked the USGA water guage and the water temp.is36,the discharge is about 4200, can this be fished now? Fished there in Sept. and caught alot of trout.Been wanting to try in the winter, seems like a good time with the Erie trib's being frozen.Heading to Kane for the weekend and going to give it a try.Anybody else fish this in the winter?

Winter is a great time and that's a pretty good flow to fish.  Clarity is pretty decent right now so you shouldn't have a problem other than your line freezing.

Be careful ! Ice covered rocks are a real danger. I have fished the tailrace
100's of times, in all seasons.Take it from one who knows,it can be almost
unbareable in winter. The water looked just a bit too stained last Thursday
This week should clear it up[no runoff]. 4200 cfs is good ,but not great.
5500 is real good. Anything above that in winter can test even the most
    seasoned anglers.

Drift lip hooked 4-6" black suckers 3' below a 1/2oz barrel sinker. Bring lots of them because those 14-1/2" eyes will clean you out.

Is 1900cf outflow too little to fish the tailrace? That's what it is today. I usually fish the Rt. 59 side.

Higher flow seems to push the fish towards shore.  Hard to fish out when the flow is high.

Fished there Monday ,4th, and Tuesday, you can catch as many small,8-12 inch, rainbows as you want ,only caught one 14" walleye on Monday. Not many fisherman there and everyone I talked to were catching the trout and an occasional small walleye, nothing legal. Not bad weather for Feb.
