After a few trips there last year walking the dogs, it looked like nothing had changed to me. Iced tea colored water and only seeing and hearing of small bullheads and panfish.

The ice must be off then.  Haven't been down that way lately.

I have been fishing Shawnee since I was a kid. I have a camp about a mile from the lake. Excited to get up there soon. Fishing has steadily been getting better the last handful of years.

It was always pretty good for me too, but there were a couple years there i didn't have much luck. I remember years back throwing a spinnerbait anywhere and getting pike. Have you ever caught a smallmouth out of Shawnee. Not sure if they are in there or not.

Last year the lake looked better than it has since 2006. The fishing was really good too. But after the month of almost non-stop rain to start the summer the water quickly went back to the iced tea look. I'm hoping this year starts off the same way and maybe without all the heavy rain coming at once it will hold on a little longer. Noticing birds, turtles and other things coming back is a great sign too.

I fished there Thursday afternoon at 2 trees where I did great last week before the front came through.  Never had a bite.  On my way to a private lake to see if the pan fish are hitting.

The crappies I caught last week where not as nice as the ones Mountain Man landed.

Jigs and covered water with the sonar, like I said you're gonna be sorting through 5" dinks. There are big crappies there just gotta work for them.
