I think there are a lot of beers that probably would be labled as bitters or ESBs, but the brewers know that slapping IPA will sell better.

I agree 100% on the low ABV being a tricky thing to get right.  That said, the ones that I mentioned (and sure holds true with other's suggestions) are on par with many "standard offering" IPA and pale ales of 10-15 years ago.  It is truely a testiment to beers like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale to be one of the first national craft brews, and still be a great beer.  One of the brands that has lasted due to it's product, over gimmics & advertisement.

The Rivertowne & Buckeye OH-PA Session is about as good as I've had for sessions. Going to stock up while they are out. Thanks for the great suggestion. Like the other sessions that I've had, it could use a bit more balance. But pretty enjoyable for what it is.

I just had the new Great Lakes DIPA which is the old Alcemy Hour renamed.

Same fine brew. Yum.

Southern tier 2xone is not low alcohol. But its real good. IPA kick, but still well balanced.

Chillwave.  Some pretty tasty stuff there.  Seems I really don't have anything 'light' in my inventory.  Well, maybe.  Got a case of Fat Heads Bumbleberry here and I think there's some Sunshine Pils, Oberon and #9 floating around my cellar.

buddy gave me a "rye" beer at his place a few weeks ago. Man, I couldn't gag that stuff down and I love beer of all kinds. I really like the dark German wheat beers......why is this blue??

You're the first I've heard say that.  I like both, but Sculpin is far and away my favorite.  Stacks up right in there with Torpedo and Ruination for me.

Straub amber. Local, 4.1% , delicious, and dirt cheap in cans.

Straub amber, GR8 Beer for spring golfing.
My all time favorite summer beer is Hala Kahiki Pineapple Beer by Rivertowne
4.8% and tastey as Heck.
I drink them all:  ales, IPA's, IPLs, lagers, porters, stoudts, shandys,  too many styles to name.... They all have their place and time and its usually depends on the season.

I got a great nano brewery that just opened up 5 mins from my house, this guy can brew the heck out of some beer. If you live in Beaver County, you are missing the boat if you don't stop by and check him out.

Not too late to check out the Brewskifest at 7 Springs, April 25 & 26.
Went last year and it was a blast, going this year on Friday the 25th.

Bottoms up !

Have you tried rodenbach or redbach? I think those are my 2 favorite commercial sours. My brother has made a few that have come out very well also.

I just don't care for them Fishinguy. It's about the only style I don't like. I have tried nano brewed ones from a good brew pub. Just not my cup of tea or beer I mean....

I love sours but rarely encounter them enough to really get to know individual beers.  Duchess de Bourgogne is fantastic.

A very worthy brew too.

A very worthy brew too.

I just spent an afternoon at the Dogfishhead Brewpub in Rehobeth on Thursday (fishing was slow, so lunch was extended).  After sampling a bunch of their beers, I still like the 60 minute the best.  Their 60 minute beer battered fish & chips is amazing as well.  75 minute cask was pretty good, but I prefer my beer colder than casks hold at.

Has anyone had any of the all saints beers?  I drove by the brewery the other day and never realized it was located in the old hostess store by lynch field.

Yes.

I've not had anything from them that knocked my socks off with flavor, but everything I've had has been well-crafted beer.  I like their Crimson Halo and their IPA.

All Saints is good, I live right up the street from them.  None of their beers will knock your socks off but they are all pretty decent.  I'll have to get down there this week to try the beer they brewed with Helltown for beer week, Dark Angel it's called.

Had the full pint hobknobber a few days ago when i bought a full pint sampler.  I enjoyed the beer and wouldnt mind drinking it again.  I also tried their Kolsch beer and did not enjoy it at all.  Not my style

Had East end pedal pale ale over the weekend.  its 4.7% abv but it was a very good beer.  I enjoyed it more than the full pint hobknobber

Friday afternoon I had a really good new-to-me IPA in Deschutes Hop Henge (13/14).  Very hoppy, for sure, but not the jaw-clenching bitterness blast of a Ruination.  Very, very citric & floral.

Ruination mmmmmm. Picked up a stone variety case the other day. All good fairly high gravity beers in that one. Anyone else have a beer with citra hops they liked? I've had 3 different home brews with it, awesome. The couple micro brews I've had that advertise citra, were not that good.
