Late summer/ fall bite

Trying to break up the monotony of a major home improvement project, I hooked up the boat and hit a local lake for a couple of hours to clear my mind.
Having no bait and not wanting to deal with it, I tied on a couple of smaller cranks and proceeded to troll around. Crappies were turned on by the hard baits and after a couple of passes I had it narrowed down to a size 07 blue shad rap as the preferred bait. I didn't count how many I caught but at times it was like being in a chinese fire drill trying to steer the boat and reel in two rods LOL. Most fish were in the 8-10" range with a dozen or so over 11". Fish were holding 7-10' down over 11-13' of water. There were a couple of boats anchored up using bait and they seemed to be getting them also. The one guy I talked to as I went by said he was weeding thru a lot of small ones to fill his basket.
So if you can get the time it seems as though the feed bag is on and should only get better in the next month or so.
Mike

I prefer trolling for crappies as well with small to medium sized cranks, Wiggle warts are a favorite. Normally the takers are all 10+ inches. Nice report, good to hear they're hitting.

The fall night bite is one ov my favorite times for Crappie. Easy as Doe Rae Me while most are getting down from a tree.
