Olcott Trip/Report....

Holy Crap.....
Made my first trip to Lake O for some salmon, what a trip!!! Those salmon fight harder than anything Ive caught before....even fish from deep sea charters.  There is nothing like watching that level wind shoot back and forth while listening to the drag screaming!!! I think we managed around 10 kings in 2 and a half days, half of them being 20#+. I've never been so exhausted from fishing before....especially after taking a mature king on the 500 copper...my arms were hurting! LOL!  Most of our fish came in 220-250 FOW east of the marina, most of the kings came 80-110 down on green/white spin doctors and flies.
Here is a video I made from all of the gopro footage we took....enjoy

Cool video.  Do you have some sort of extension pole for your camera?  Those areal views looked like you had a second boat or helocoptor filming.

DrumR brought two go pros and all kinds of camera brackets.
We put the camera on the end of my dock hook and then put it in a rod holder. We extened it above and away from the boat.
The video did turn out pretty sweet. Makes me wanna go back every time I watch it.

Thanks porktown. I credit any cool shots to the tr-1 autopilot for allowing the third person to focus on filming and not steering! Those gopro cameras sure are sweet. Next time I want to mount one on a set of big boards and get a complete side shot of the boat...

That would be pretty cool.  Although, losing a camera would suck.  You did a great job filming and editing.

Td, I've seen some of the rigger footage on YouTube. Good stuff. We were watching fish follow on the lowrance all day, some of them would swim down or up 20' then hang out around where the ball was on the graph for while

Brings back old times, never forget my first trip to Olcott, mid July, three boats in the parking lot. Trolled all day on the break in front of the micowave 35 steel in one day biggest 19.12 back then it was a Pa. state record.Next day headed north 200 fow of water many kings 20 plus, the biggest was 30.5 lbs. We always make 3 trips to the big pond a year. Fished the fall ESLO derby every year. I year I stayed two weeks and cold packed 80 pints of salmon. Dogder and squid, NK's ,Pirate's and J plugs. I still got 5 Willie boxes with salmon lure. Nice vids  Look like you guys had blast.
