South Branch of 10 Mile Creek - Waynesburg

Anyone ever fish the South Branch of 10 Mile in Waynesburg or the South Branch anywhere in general ? I passed over it on 79 today and never noticed it before, i never even knew there was a South Branch of 10 Mile until today after researching it tonight cause i wanted to know what it was, i fish what i now know of as the North Branch of 10 Mile a whole lot in the summer as its only 5 minutes away in the town of Marianna wheres theres good smallie, sauger and white bass fishing at the old mine dam there, i was so interested in this creek that after work today, i followed it all the way through Waynesburg past to what i believe is the Emerald Mine prep plant and found yet another very nice looking dam like where i fish in Marianna but only larger. If anyone has any info on this branch and what fish are present, i would greatly appreciate it as i definatly want to give it a couple good trys this year, i'm also suprised that i've never seen any posts about 10 Mile anywhere in general on here, definatly a good creek to fish if you know where to go, you would be suprised at the sizes of some fish you would catch outta there.

The Fish Commission surveyed it around Waynesburg this past summer.  The newspaper quoted Rick Lorson(PFBC biologist) as saying it would be a pretty good place to fish.  I've never fished it myself tho.  I work in Scenery Hill, so if you ever need a co-explorer I'd be more than happy to wake up early, do a little fishing then head to work.

I wish there we're some in the North Branch, there might be somewhere, i know people try catching them down at 10 Mile Park near Clarksville.

There are several nice spots between Waynesburg and where it empties into the Mon. I did pretty well under a bridge two summers ago on lures. It was a tough spot to get to but worth it.

I grew up in Greene county and have fished every inch of Ten Mile from above Waynesburg to the Mon. Don't let the name Ten Mile fool you....that creek is alot longer than ten miles long. I did catch a couple musky from the dam you were referring to a few years back. Nothing huge. There are good number of smallmouth throughout the creek as well as channel cats. Most of the sauger are caught in the lower reaches. From the Mon to a couple miles up past Clarksville are best for Sauger, but I have caught them throughout.  From Waynesburg down it winds through the hills and can be accessed from several different roads. Hellgremites seigned from the creek in the summer can be deadly for the smallies and cats.

Oh ok, i was gonna say i definatly don't think theres an muskys in Marianna, there are some bruiser carp, saugers, smallmouths, largemouths and white bass there but you gotta hit it at the right time of year for the bass, mostly spring an early summer are the best times to catch the bass there and like you said, the majority of the saugers we catch are a little ways up from Clarksvilles and the closer to the mouth the better, my buddy caught 1 this past summer the size of his forearm at a place called Pump Station idk if you know where thats at, right after he caught that i caught a huge drum, like i said, you would be suprised at what you catch outta there.

There are some nice deep pools down from that dam in Waynesburg. There is a railroad bridge at the other end of the mine. A small access road goes upstream up the road from there. I've seen some nice fish in there.

Don't feel bad but your lower than them already because they've both been to 10 Mile at Pump Station already, only once with me an Zack though so you should get more priviledges for not being dumb or stupid like them, and if we get bored and not catch anything, we can go diving off of the old dam there.

Eh a good bit, i like the dam in Marianna though better, bigger bass but like i said my buddy caught a huge sauger and i got a big drum at Pump Station, the way 10 Mile is where we fish, the first 10 casts you'll catch fish then nothing so you go to a spot, catch fish an move on.

No, i've caught 1 there this past spring and 2 years before that hooked into a dandy rainbow there, got it to the shore and into my hands an it threw the hook, right below the dam this year in a shallow pool downstream i could see a palomino but couldn't get it to hit anything, pretty small so it wasn't worth too much time.
