Benezette fishing

I have to spend a couple of days in the Benezette area. Besides some wild trout streams, anyone have any suggestions. I was hoping to try to find some smallmouth action.  Is the west branch in that area a dead river? Thanks for any help.

    Thanks for the info CF.

Is there shore line fishing at Laurel Run Reservoir?

What about the Bennette Branch of Sinnemahoning that flows along Rt 555? I understand a lot of streams in that area still have a lot of acid mine damage.

     LRR no boats aloud.

Along 555 near Pennfield / Tyler the creek has cleaned up 1000 times better since the 70's/80's when it was bright orange. Think PSU spent some time cleaning it up a few yrs. back. Had a friend that had a place in Tyler 'tlll a few yrs. ago but never fished it.

I've had fish comm. dudes stop me in the past while fishing up that way telling me I'm wasting my time due to the acid. little did they know the places I was fishing were loaded with natives. Or maybe they did know??
