DEC CORTLAND U FISHERIES SURVEY

Just wondering if anyone else got one. Trying to figure how many they randomly sent out so as to gauge the weight of my answers.

I got no such thing. I'm a non resident. I don't know if that matters. I would think they would only ask NY residents?

The question is did anyone else reading this fishusa board receive one other than me.
Trying to get a handle on the number sent out and the weight my reponses will have.

    Waderboy,

I also did not receive this survey, but I am interested in its contents and areas of comment. I am a resident of NYS. If you feel upto it, please share it with us board members. Thanks in advance

Sorry Foxfire but its a 6 page survey kind of like a SAT test (fill in the circle). Basicly it asks about how many days, hours I fish. What species (both warm and cold water) I prefer. Preference of boat verus foot. Things like that. It seems to be an attempt to find where anglers would prefer to see the monies spent on the fisheries of the state.

I've done a few streamside creel/census Q&A's myself----doubt if we're talking bout what Wader is.

This survey was about 5 pages long and encompassed about a 1/2 hour of my time. It was multiple guess and asked all sorts of questions from the type of fish pursued, style of fishing, DEC enforcement, lake fishing, habitat, etc. Again, last years news. Not the average stream creel census.

It does sound more like the one mailed to me than the streamside ones I have filled out.

I have the reports from one that was adminstered in 1996, I believe.  These are, as you say, randomly sent to license holders, and are adminstered statewide. Past results indicated the rise in popularity of bass fishing in the state.  I think that by design no one person can influence the overall results heavily, but responding is helpful to the statisticians, and if the only people who bothered to fill them out were perch fishermen, they might be able to conclude that we don't need hatcheries!

Would the amount of weight given to your answers inluence IF, or HOW you answer? If the latter, why?
