Landing Net

Going to need to buy a net for the new boat.  What length do most of you guys use for eyes.  The boat is a 26' Four Winns and I'd like to be able to use the net for Kings on Ontario too.  I was looking at the Ego S2 slider but was wonding how long would be the most "handy".  60" doesn't seem long enough to reach past the swim platform.

Mine is telescopic and extends out to close to 9'. When I started on Erie I had a nice 5' handled net and found it to be too short. It worked, but it's much easier with the long handle. Just make sure to instruct your crew NOT to lift a 10# eye out of the water with the handle fully extended...

Curiosity killed the cat, but for awhile I was a suspect.

Thanks.  That is pretty much what I thought.  I found lots of 60" nets but I think I'll spend the extra and get the one that goes to 108".

Stay away from the frabill tru-traxs nets.  The telescoping handle is nice but it doesn't hold up to fishing every weekend. I never lift fish straight up with it either, the handle doesnt feel like it will take it. I am currently looking at beckman nets, they make a 6' handle with a 3' extensions and it seems pretty heavy duty.
Don't go cheap on a net, 2 weekends ago I had a 15# laker completely destroy my net, right after we had a double that we had to land by hand..that was fun. lol

I'm really considering the Ego S2 slider that extends from 48" to 108".  Looks pretty good but it is $105 with a two year warranty.  Also looked at this one.  http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/landing-boat-nets/973202.aspx  That's not a "tru-traxs" is it?  I like the lifetime warranty.

That frabill from jannsnetcraft isnt the one I have, but the hoop looks the same, that's where I had trouble, it snapped twice on me.   It currently has copper pipe and rivets holding it together.  lol
That Ego S2 Slider looks nice, if you end up picking one up let me know how you like it, I will be in the market for a new one shortly.

Beckman's are the Cadillac of the net world, but an 8' Ranger is a good bang for the buck.  Take a look at the Beckman PT262463.

I've never seen a discussion about nets before. LOL! You guys are spouting off model numbers and everything. I only need to read  your (Bogey, BD, FDrummer, etc) posts to remind myself how little I know. God bless you! You guys are so well-informed and eager to help others. I'm glad I know two of you and I'd be honored to meet the rest.

I dont know either slab. That's what I'm trying to figure out. Lol. Its a lot easier to get info this time of year than in steely season. Most guys won't even tell you their favorite snow tires for their pick up without getting paranoid it will steal a trout from them. Hope to see you guys on the lake soon. The boats name is Draggin ballz.

I have 2 sizes of noodles to cut as needed
Bought stretchable docking line and saw it sinking and drifting away before first use.
    Aluminum docking pole same thing.
    I need a brighter crew.
    Net was my fault.

EGO good for walleye but not heavy duty enough for Lake O saimens, look at a Ranger net for dual duty.
