[Edited quote from Tuna]
hot tuna

Maybe the singing Rabbi suits your cloths..lol

Reminded me of Pretty Fly For A Rabbi, a hilarious song which is Weird Al Yankovic's parody of Pretty Fly For A White Guy by The Offspring. If you like Weird Al you'll probably like this, but fair warning; it's far different than the types of music by all of the other musicians on this post. You still might want to go to you tube and have a listen anyhow.

Re:music thread 2013/09/19 17:26:50 (permalink)
My favorite Hendrix band was the original lineup with Redding and Mitchell and favorite album was the 1st one, Experienced, which is the only one I have, but heard all of them. All of the others had some songs that I liked, but I thought that Are You Experienced had the most likeable ones. My friend likes Electric Ladyland the best believing that it's superior. To each their own.
In retrospect, I hope that I didn't offend anyone when I wrote about Weird Al's Pretty Fly For A Rabbi as the intent wasn't to ridicule a religion or culture. If so, I apologize. I just like how he can parody other songs while sounding much like the original version and yet be unique in his own version. My favorite is Amish Paradise, but there are many others I find enjoyable.

I saw them on this tour twice.
When they turned on the kliegs paranoid people started to run for the exits.
Really just a spam bump

Holy Farm Aid:
My gosh it's a no wonder I don't do concerts anymore.. Way To CRAZY people and SPAC just plain sucks ..
At $11.00 beers I went pretty broke.. For gosh sakes I coulda bought a friggin keg for what it cost for a few beers.. And did I say DUMP ? The  place was completely TRASHED as were the people.. It was just piles and piles of trash all over the grounds and somehow the **** garbage containers were all pretty empty.. I mean WTF ?? The place made the Salmon River look like the Rose Garden at the white house..
The sound sucked as well.. All anyone wanted to do was talk to their friends (very loudly) while the bands played..
I interupted a few chatty people and asked how they liked the band that was playing.. They would look at me funny and say oh, they are great.. I'd say well the SHUT THE F' UP so I can hear THEM and not your conversation..
It just plain sucked..

As for the show :
LONG day.. There were tons of acts and most were pretty lame.. Most of the early acts only got 10-15mins to play and it was hard to get a good feel for them in only 2 songs..
Later acts got between 1/2 hr and 45 mins to play..
Lukas Nelson STOLE the show , they were Awesome !! John Melloncamp put on a pretty good set of his hits and had some good energy going.. Dave Matthews was Lame and Neil Young Just plain sucked.. He did a solo acoustic set and mostly talked, a lot !! Oh he did put on a real good set with his wifes band Pegi Young an the survivors doing his grunge electric guitar thing..
The Main Man Willie (80 years old) was pretty good.. They had is ole beat up guitar turned WAY up and he would rip out his trademark twang rips but his vocals are still great..

The biggest bummer of the night was when they let Pete Seeger come out and gave him all the time he wanted to pluck away on his banjo.. The entire cast, Neil,John, Willie and Dave joined him in some sing alongs but they were a complete TRAIN WRECK !!

It will be a long time , if ever that I do a outdoor festival, or large scale concert again..
Give me a bars stool and $3.00 drafts with a decent band and I would be all over that, but SPAC , YUCK !!!

They are probably all going Salmon fishing and needed some bling to make the $50 per day access fees at DSR, so you pay 11 for lukewarm beer.  Other than the Rochester International Jazz Festival, where I get a 9 day ticket for the club shows for about $175.00 (saw 41 shows on it last year) and the beers were still 5 bucks for 14 ozers (and less in a couple of clubs), I don't do concerts anymore because of the outrageous inflation in prices.  I still have the stub from the Dead at SUNY Binghamton, $5.00 for the Riders and the Dead, less than a dollar an hour in 1970, so I got spoiled on fair prices when young, and I don't understand all the greed in the music biz now, except that none of these folks make any money off recorded stuff because everyone steals it off the interweb.  But they will definitely end up killing the goose that lays the golden egg.  I never went to Levon's either, I thought 100 a night was outrageous, and then he jacked it to 200 before he passed.

Reading some of the posts reminds me of when one was able to see a great headliner act and usually a very decent opening band at the arenas for $5,$6 or $7. Eventually it climbed, but slowly. The last time I checked $60 wasn't unusual and it could go up to $200. Needless to say, it's been along time since I've seen anyone live. The older a band got in age, the more ticket prices increased.

yea SPAC used to be cool and I got lost many a days there but somehow things seemed much different and I wasnt wearing rose colored glasses....While the good ole GD posted a record attendance it was the DMB that sent the place in it's downward spiral.. Or maybe Clear Chanel ??
I agree Sweet Baby James is awesome, and rocked, still plays a sweet tune..
Coulda said HI to him for ya 2 months ago in Local Lowes store.. He frequents the area ..

Well after retrospect I think this may be what put people over the Edge at Farm Aid 2013..
Willies boy Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real..
It was right after the first popular artist Jamey Johnson got off, the sun was setting and the crowd was set..
While Lukas came out earlier to play with folks, when his band hit the floor rockin it whipped everyone into a frenzy.. At least me :)
Bad boy Lukas... ha..

You know I didn't want to like him when I first saw his name mentioned.
You know riding daddy's coattails, nepotism , silverspoon kinda thing but I became convinced he's for real doing what he's feeling.

By the way dad's voice does come creeping it at times.

Hot Tuna, 2B, Coldfront, KingKool, Topdog99 and Lucky13 in no particular order and I hope nobody was missed as it would be unintentional; please post or send PM's to me of music that you think I might find of interest as I listen to an extremely wide variety. Thanks guys for all of your posts, some of which I was familiar, some I didn't know a particular version and some brand new to me. Much appreciated! ! !  It's been a long time since I've composed, written played and performed, but it's still a very big part of my life. I don't get on-line everyday, so if it takes me a little while to respond, please don't be offended. Thanks guys!

It wasn't me although I sure felt that way.. Not lucky enough to pay the $1,500.00 for prime seats.. We were in the cheap $65.00 lawn seats, WAY in the back once the invasion of crazy people started....

Neil seemed all "jacked" up pacing back and forth across the stage sprouting away with his tales.. I think his performance was Lame as most of his acoustic shows are..

Maybe he ran into some Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, or he didn't listen to Toby Keith's sage words and stumbled onto the bus! I know he's not averse to either, just watch him on "the Last Waltz"!

So this is for them.

Thanks for the Homage my friend.. Quah is perhaps 1 of my top ten albums ever made..
Many hit the list and only few stand the test of time such as these gems..
A little fhoto fart from my collection:

Really thank you for the "new to me" music that happens here.. It opens up a new horizon to what has been a stuck in the mud ride for awhile..
Know I said it's out there if you look , my eyes and ears are open to good kind folks..
Now if I may step on your toes , here is a little retro Quah:
I rode a on a few of these rides with JK..

I guarantee there was no way you could not jump to your feet when Canned Heat did the boogie.
One of my all time favorite shows.
You must have not moved much to still have all that vinyl.
