Talk about Album art.. This album had a 3/d prism cover and I think I spent many hrs staring into the depths

I was never really into the Stones besides Let It Bleed and the above album..
I know , it's only rock'n roll..

Oh as to the Stones I am not a huge fan by any stretch.
I will say the earlier the better as far as I'm concerned.
When they were still doing lots of covers they were a pretty  good ENGLISH bluesrock band.

Stevie was sweet .. What a great and underrated talent.. I love listening to his voice and grooved to some very superstitious thing in my day.. Nice one 2bob..
Ah.. Joe Walsh.. Gosh , I just heard a radio interview with Joe one day this week while on the graveyard shift.. The guy has been through the trenches.. He talked mostly about Barnstorm  and his dark days due to his daughters death.. He sounds like hell , vocal wise..
Always dug the James Gang, luke warm to the Eagles and never seen him perform..

You can see he puts his all into his shows.
One of the strangest combinations I ever saw.

Its a Beautiful Day and the very early James Gang.
One of the perks of being old, now that I think of it the only perk of being old.

Watched the Eagles, before Joe, get booed off stage.
In truth they were pretty ****ed good at what they did.
Can't remember who they opened for but the crowd was looking for something a bit harder edged.

wow, I was reminded of Jim Morrison passing on this day 42 years ago but never even gave it a thought.. Karma goes out to Jim.. Poet, songwriter and flat out space captain.. R.I.P ..

Now if you have 3+ hrs to space.. Here was my listening pleasure today while I got gear together..
I got the Sbd's on audio so I lifted this video..  I was at this show and it was hotter then a cob to say the least..
Fire hoses were being sprayed to keep us "alive", water fountains were disconnected to allow them to just spew water and the music flowed for hrs , days on end..
I shook the hands of strangers and drank the wine of friends.. It was a fine show indeed..
Good ole GD, 7-12-87 Giants stadium w/ Dylan..
Dont fret, the first 35 seconds is yuck but very clean after..

Re:music thread 2013/07/03 18:49:49 (permalink)
so now that I am barley breathing here is a venture story.. last friday I gave up my day off and chance to go fishing in turn to try and score Farm Aid tickets that went on sale at 10 am.. See its been so long since I been to a show, having the Infamous Farm Aid concert come to my home turf I just had to do it..
Sat at the computer until the clock ticked the strike of Ten.. Bang I'm in, Shoot no inside seats available.. What the heck.. So I call at 10:02 and wait 5 mins to be told the same thing.. Lawn Seats (Gen admission) only... UGH.. How can this be ? An entire amphitheater sold out in seconds , or was it already gone before they went on sale ??
I guess the latter.. Radio stations from country, rock to pop were (are) giving them away like crazy..
Kinda re affirms my distaste to S.P.A.C. or any large venue..
Ah well at least I'll be amongst the crowded lawn for Farm Aid 2013.. Man , last trip to such place was the 2006 CSNY tour.. My how time flies..

That spark came off the heels from this show that just hit my listening couch..

Re:music thread 2013/07/04 14:01:29 (permalink)
Did the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival from 6/21 until last Saturday night.  This was my seventh year of buying a club pass, which allows me to attend any club show where there is room, there are 15 club venues (a couple are churches, a couple of Eastman School small recital spaces, some actual clubs).  It was my wife's first year, and she ran me ragged (Kid in a candy store effect).  We saw all or part of 41 shows over the 9 nights, including some of the time on the street with Dr. John, Delbert McClinton, Shemeika Copeland, James Hunter, and Monty Alexander, did not try Trombone Shorty (~30,000 people between Alexander Street and the inner loop.)  First show we saw was Christian McBride and Inside Straight, incredible jazz.  Other tops were Stretch Orchestra, Toronto guitar and mandolin wizard Kevin Breit with Dave Brubeck's youngest son Matt on Cello and a great drummer whose name is escaping me now, if these guys come to within 100 miles of your town be there!    http://kevinbreit.com/#501/bandcamp
http://stretchorchestra.com/
Also great was Carmen Souza, a singer /guitarist/ pianist from Lisbon Portugal.  We went back and saw the same show a second night! http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=carmen+souza+youtube&mid=941F033E19A9161A81F4941F033E19A9161A81F4&view=detail&FORM=VIRE3
Last Friday, we saw Gregory Porter, another phenomenal singer, with maybe the best alto player I've heard in years in the band, http://www.gregoryporter.com/.

Also notable, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Torben Waldorf (Great guitarists), my old bud John Mooney, who assembled his old band from 30 years ago for one of the best  nights at Abeline, Jaimo's Jass Band (what does an Allman Brother do for fun?), Al Chez and the Brothers of Funk, Beausoleil (the great Cajun Band), and Mingo Fishtrap, an extremely hot R+B band out of Austin.  And we missed a lot of great shows, it is just not possible to see everything.

Willie Nelson headlined at the Eastman Theater (a sell out in 2 days back
in February) and tore the crowd up for 2 hours including his new gospel song
" You can roll me up and smoke me when I die."  Other ticketed shows included Pink Martini, David Byrne and St Vincent, Rodger Hodgson ( Super tramp), David Sanborn and Bob James with  Steve Gadd (Sold out) and Peter Frampton with Robert Cray and Don Felder.  We stuck with the passes this year, once Sanborn sold out, but in past years have spent the extra for Tal Mahal and Susan Tedescki,  Esperanza Spalding, and I dropped $100+ to finally see Jeff Beck a few years ago.

I've got my music for a while!  If it will stop raining, I can fish again (the hatches were blizzard like and the water was perfect all through the festival,  and then everything went up and the flies quit last Sunday when it was done, and I could get out again!

Chuchie I think that second link needs work.
It took me to the first vid again.
Don't worry I about me I was able to track down a clip of S E  and K B doing Helpless, don't know if that was what you intended.

Its nice to see he finally  found some friends to play with.
I thought maybe he was a stage hog or something from the first clip.
Does using a tape player make him the jazz version of Ashley Simpson?

That's right stupid questions is what I do!
