You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Lakes fished: Misery Bay, Lake Pleasent and Lake LeBoeuf but didn't trust the ice this year.......I did see a few fishing it

Ice quality: C-  not the greatest but at least I got out.

Over all catch:  D+  although we did very well two weeks ago on Misery it's been mostly hit and miss and dinks. Lake Pleasent I didn't fish much because the only ice was close to shore and I like to fish the deeper waters there.
I caught a few but mostly trout which I throw back.

Days out compared to last year: A    I had hip problems last year so I didn't fish at all

          The season's not over yet

    Grade: B
    Location: NW PA
    Lakes: Kahle, Kyle, Pymatuning
Ice Quality: A for Kahle and Kyle D+ for Pymatuning. I was never 100% comfortable there all day.
Overall Catch: B              I caught some really nice perch and gills this year with a few acceptable crappie. I caught lots of dinks of everything too. Overall, I caught way more keeper gills (8"+) than keeper perch or crappie.
Days out Compared to Last Year: A+++           I only made it out once last year and darn near fell through the ice.
Catch Compared to Last Year: A+++ for the same reason as stated above.

Made it out 4 times ,two on first ice did really well, two on last ice did ok but not like first ice.Total keepers 161 Slabs10-13 Bulls 8.5- 9.75 inches. Did not fish one day last year due to no ice. The 2011 season was off the charts so really can't compare. The 161 fish are my son's and mine total for this year. Got a few fresh dinners and a few in the freezer. I give it A+ just glad to fish.

Over all ice conditions. 1+ pucker rating  Can't fish most of my spots due to deplorable ice conditions.
Catch has been pitiful.  Worse year since I start back in the 60's

A for ice at Kyle, cloe and Curwensville C for Zinzua.
Fishing was a C on most lakes except for cloe, I caught a 22inch brown and 2 rainbows. Kinzua was slow with a 27 inch pike and 1 legal eye between 2 of us all day. Kyle was poor with one dink perch caught. Curwensville brought us some decent perch and a couple crappies. I hope to get out today for a little while going for some nice slabs.

Overall this season is  getting a solid "D" in N/W Pa.
The only good thing is time spent with my grandson.

Fished Misery Bay twice - Suger lake once, and north end of Conneaut Lake once. Between 60 and 70 keeper gills from Misery - nothing worth keeping at Sugar or Conneaut. Never got out the first freeze but still hoping for more ice time yet this year. Did not get out at all last year. Might check out Conneaut tomorrow (2/20/13). ---------- HAVE TO MAKE A REVISION-------BEEN FISHING CONNEAUT LAKE (SOUTH END) FROM 2/21 THROUGH 2/24 AND DID VERY GOOD ON THE GILLS. THE NUMBERS ARE NOT GREAT BUT THE SIZE IS IMPRESSIVE . KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED AS TO WHETHER WE HAVE ICE AFTER TOMMOROW (LOT'S OF RAIN AND WIND HERE ON 2/26/13).

This seasons getting an A from me.  Only been out 9-10 times, but misery bay and conneaut have treated me pretty well.  WAAAAAAAAAAY better than last year.  Getting to use my vex for the first time this year, and its made quite a difference in me finding fish.  Gonna blow a vacation day tomorrow and hit 'em again hopefully.

I'm going to give my season a C+. I've got out 10 times this year (hoping for one more), I've had some days with only a few fish, but it was still good to be on the hard water.
I've had the opportunity to fish some places that were new to me, met some new friends, got to hang out with some old friends,  and just Friday caught a LM bass on a tip up that might be my PB (probably not that impressive to guys who target bass, but it was a big one to me)
For me the highlight of the season was finally getting my 5yr old son Corban out on the ice with me to do some pan fishing...
Here he is with his first ever fish through the ice.

Here is the haul from the afternoon

So even if I didn't get on all the bodies of water that I wanted to and even though I don't have a freezer full of perch and crappie, I'm still feeling pretty good about this season.
    Tight lines & God bless.
