Rich---
those who woulda waited in those lines for one of those wasted shots woulda done so gladly- for some of us older folks with issues and others it could be life or death or- at best a horrific stay in the Hospital as an alternative - Lines dont mean poop when looking at the alternatives.

Govt cant even give stuff away right.

Then they get all hissy fit if people get fed up and have a ralley.

So a plan came to place yesterday to open up suny campus as a vaccination site. My wife was able to schedule an appointment in 2 weeks. Now the kicker, " if supply is available " .

So nys enacted this thing called sin tax years ago. It targeted cigarettes, gamblers and alcohol. Vast amounts of money from the sinners was supposed to go towards education, low income housing, poverty and public spaces to not increase our state taxation . But of course nys is 50 billion in the hole because of a virus that's only been recognized in less than 1 year. I personally know people and acquaintances that are no longer alive due to covid 19. Another passed today..
So let's tax the stoners to raise revenue and give relief to the non sinners, that's the answer.
Some people are gardners and farmers. The purpose is to avoid dependence on a ruling entity of regulations and just live a simple life.
I absolutely agree we should take care of those in need through tax dollars . Problem here is someone is wasting money on putting barriers and round the clock ot protecting the Capitol of Albany.. From what ???

The weather outside is frightful....

I'm fine with taxing the sinners, they cost society billions. Who pays for drunken driving, cancer from second hand smoke and bankruptcies caused by gambling debts?  I grew up with  my family growing our own food , I did it myself for years. You just started, so don't get so preachy.
The majority of our populous lives in cities, should they plow the streets up?  Maybe hunt deer in allies and shopping malls?
As for fencing  in Albany, I don't know how many "patriots"  plan to storm  the capitol building, but major threats have been made according to many law enforcement agencies. I talked to the commander of the National Guard in Vt. today, he said  they are prepared if something happens in Montpelier. I also talked to my local police chief and he's very concerned. Officials don't want the same crap happening as what occurred  on the sixth.  How do you think the family of the officer that was beaten to death with a fire extinguisher feels?  Do you think they  would have wished for a better barricade?  Protest and insurrection are vastly  different. Hopefully, we only see the former. I hate grey weather and that's most of the time lately. Depressing.  2021 better start getting its act together.

2021 has been great to us so far moving forward. The ice is nice but the winds blow in different directions. . By no means am I a preacher man except for loving old western movies.
Perspective,
nys has had a weed program in place for about 5 years. There is a dispensary 3 miles from my work site. Depending on which way the wind blows or how still and cold the mornings are , it smells like high grade skunk when I pull into work. Got so bad that I had to notify the company their ups and freight packages passed through the dispensary over hrs ago and still smell.
Sometimes when I'd open the overhead door, I knew exactly where they been before. So point in place is , nys has had a medical program in place for a very long time now. Our state leadership said it's only available through pill or edible. What does one really think happens to all the " extra " the state pays for and doesn't distribute ?
I know there are also farm dispensaries in the outer sticks besides rural getting paid to operate at a loss.
My family are law enforcement, military veterans and RN , kinda also know what's real.

7 am on ice Saturday in queensburry. Hopefully no rain.

They opened it up to the immuno-compromised this afternoon. They are adminstering them at pharmacies. I have to get a hall pass from my oncologist , but I don't have high hopes as  the schedules are filling at rocket pace. Or maybe like a steelhead hooked in the tail....

Fichy,
Earliest I'm told is March, if vaccine available. Scary part is, now we don't know what we are shooting in our arms by then

Me (cancer survivor and battler) and my wife scheduled round one for April 6th (the earliest date available) two counties away.  Meanwhile the mayor in New Rochelle jumped the line saying he wanted to demonstrate to frontline workers and healthcare professionals it was safe.  What a guy!

Our gov here in Ct says not to let leftover shots go to waste when they are thawed out and some dont show up as scheduled--good.
Says they should have a backup list of folks to call last minute should this occur-good.
One town had some left over so they called the mayor for one.

The thing is pharmacies are not equipped to store the vaccines without special refrigeration. Unless that is set up in advance. They can promise all they want. I be reluctant at a Walmart shooting what could be " dope ". Just using them as an example. As one sees, mobile sites are being utilized by the state. If the state would mobilize to a pharmacy, that be key, but right now, its not. It's all about spending money and expecting a kick back.

The Pfizer comes with its own storage and is good for a week stored in a regular refrigerator.
I just listened to Biden and teams' plan. Mobile units, National Guard, FEMA, etc. Actually made sense.   Cuomo's roll out was a big whining screw up. I guess he couldn't figure out a kickback angle.  Expect it to step up significantly.  Even though I do dialysis  at home, I have a support team at a center who I've come to know and trust with my life. They called to tell me that they are getting vaccines and they put me down on the list.  Hooray.

Being my daughter has been administering the vaccine for about 4 weeks now, I don't know all that much about it. She was eligible from day 1 but has chosen not to receive, as she's expecting. Yes that would make pop pop #10. Me, my wife and sister would gladly step in but protocol overrules.
I wish you the best of luck fichy.

The weather looks crappy starting overnight until midday tomorrow. While I'm heading locally to pillage panfish, it may get sloppy.
I'm bringing a 5 gallon pail with the goal of 50 perch, crappie and gills. Not to bail water from the shanty.
I see the DEC, is also proposing MORE fishing regulations and trying to drop the sunfish limits. With all the new proposed hunting and fishing regulations over the pandemic year, it's very clear there are special interests at work.

Well the last bout gave us 8 inches or so, BUT the 10 or so miles to pulaski or altmar ups the ante to well over a foot. The weather ccontinues to be mild so no complaints

Perhaps 15" on the ground and still snowing hard.  I wouldn't be surprised if we get 20"+ by the time it moves off midday Tuesday.  It looks like another storm is headed our way next week.  Hurry Spring!

This is one of those odd storms where being backed up against the Taconics and Greens creates a mountain shadow. We have a dusting, and it's not snowing at all , right now. I did start a small commercial snow blowing business, but it really  isn't a killer if I don't have to do anything this storm. I feel bad for my wife who has to travel to the other side of the mountain for work. It'll be a different world.

We got hammered on the northeastern storm #2.. Well over my muck boots.
Ice frogs bailed out of work yesterday, I tried to make my way in at 5:30 today and decided home is more important.
Funny, 40 miles north is not an issue . I'm heading 100 miles on Friday in that direction.

Wrestled with the snow thrower and shovel for seven hours, still not done.  Finished perhaps 2/3rds of the driveway.  I have to clear off and move the Suburban before I can finish  the remaining area.  I probably have three more hours of work before I'm finished.  Lol

Yesterday was a real back breaker, and I got very little of my total driveway cleared. When I try to take a full cut of this crap my thrower keeps clogging,I have to take it in steps, shovel some then blow some.If I don't get it open to the street I'll run out of food. Now they are saying we might get another storm on Sunday!
