Well we did not get 1 inch from the LE event where I live. It did dip down to rt 104 today and Pulaski got a quick blast of snow. Hitting Oneida Sunday, chores tomorrow. Heard there is a game or something on Sunday, but who knows.......

Again-15 when I hit the ice at 6:30 am on schroon lake.
It took a lot of fortitude to get things set up Nd working properly. My hole inside the shanty was steaming.
Sun is out and wind is low.
Not bad but fishing is slow.

Dodged falling trees and some limbs pelted my truck on this windy day. Temperatures dropped and mud has frozen.
Systems go tomorrow on a calm 15 degrees winter morning to pillage panfish.
I will be heading to tailwater lodge next Tuesday morning till Thursday afternoon 19-21. To cast a line in those icy waters.
Stop in and say hello if you wish

For many years wife and I would spend Daytona 500 weekend in Oswego .
I've seen lots of things at that time from surfers on the lake to fantastic good live music times at steamers. I always seem to run into real people that have been here before.
This will be another adventure. Did it last February at same place, same time and was pleased. Hence a return customer.

A lot of us wondered how it would be with that place fishing and such- have heard all good reports from inside the place and have found that public fishing from the far side is not an issue.

Its really a top notch hotel. I don't mind splitting $120 a night with having everything well kept and right on site.
Fly shop and tying station, good food 24/7 , game room , brewery, live music, all your fishing gear has a place not in your room, never have to drive from room if you choose.
They were building an expansion of exercise room , sauna, hot tubs and indoor pool last year I was there. I'm sure its completed now.
It's a home run for me.

With the amount of traffic they get from snowmobiles, fishers 8 months a year, it seems they are doing well.
I would have never thought, but pleasantly pleased

Tailwater lodge has turned out very nice.  I manage to eat there at least two evenings while in town.  $120 a night seems very reasonable.  I rented a house on the lake near the DSR but if this place was more west, I would definitely look into staying.  AirBNB has turned many owners into renters on Sandy pond/lake Ontario.  Nice homes can be rented for $50 per person per night.

Rich I burned my time this weekend. I took my nephew to South Carolina to try out for the under 14 national team. If he makes it a tip to Ireland may in the future. We are bracing for a storm tomorrow to Wednesday. Should of went out today but jet lag was too much. So me and the pooch took a walk in the woods. There is very little snow pack for this time of year. Now its nap time and back to work for the first time in a week. At least my back is better. LOL

Hope he makes the trip.
One thing I missed as a kid was traveling until I was a rebellious teenager.

Have no idea of what's instore weather wise but the radio station ( Woodstock) says it could be a mess starting tomorrow afternoon till Wednesday. No details given other than mixed bag. I got no snow left here and I'm cool without seeing anymore.
All good if we just finish out winter with rain / freeze events.
It will surely open up the striper season on the mighty muddy Hudson.
Nothing worse then having a ton of snow and ice melt on top of spring rains ( sans 2017) .

I'm counting the days now t minus 7 to the SR. If you could Clint, keep an eyebrow up for me. My real only deal breaker would be flows.

Only about 4 inches here. Guess I'll start a little plowing.

Just checked SR flow and it seems to be going north. Any reason or thoughts

F  this time of year and the weather that goes with it!Yesterday we got around 4" of snow that stopped late morning,so I went out and blew it off my loooonnng driveway. Then sat around for awhile, had a shower and settled in,then it started with a light snow, then after coating everything in white,it started to sleet and then a light rain. After all that ended sometime during the night I was left with my loooonnnngg hilly driveway coated with a thick coat of ICE!So now I'm a captive in my house, can't drive until it thaws. This morning the Sun was shining and it looked hopeful,THEN the Sun went in hiding and we just had a snow "squall",everything is white again!I hope we get the Sun and warmth they are predicting so I can escape!
I really hate this time of year.

Well that sucks Jack. I plowed most of my stuff last night and at 8pm we got heavy freezing rain.
I have to work in it so why not play in it too ?

Sadly, we are bailing on the SR next week as the flow chart says 1900 until Tues.
We will just go ice fishing for the week instead.

Rained like heck all day yesterday and man at times it came down in buckets full..... including the buckets.

Temperature dropped 27 degrees by sundown.

Today is bringing plenty of sunshine and temps in the mid sixties. 😜

One more night like last night though, temps back in the 40s before returning to the normal lows of 60s.😒

Gotta git, I wanna try on my new speedo before hitting the beach this weekend.😎

Be safe.

ummmm, would yinz mind keeping the cold fronts muup north... please?

I don't know if I could do without hardwater season so yes, stop hogging it and please send the cold temperatures north . At least until April 😉

We got about 6 to 8inches and then 1/4 inch ice on that. Wind howling all night. Idiots still going out on Oneida and then getting lost and calling rescue to come find them  because of the wind. 3 in a week on different days says ye common sense runs short for some

HT I weighed anchor and sailed south. Bonifide silly "snowbird" now. 😎

Stuck a "house for sale" sign in the front yard this fall and on Dec. 29th turned the keys over to the new owner. Fired up the truck and down the road we go.

Visiting Alabama and Florida till end of this month then heading west.

A bit tough hearing the stories about hardwater fishing but from what I read, the ice was short lived in my area so that does take a little sting out of it.

Next fall we plan to swing up through r3's area and cont. north on a fall foliage ride to the top, before heading west.

Keep them stories comin. While I ain't punching holes, I got plenty of memories.

Not trying my hand at any fishing here... but there's always next year. lol

So now I'm going to do some grocery shopping so I can continue to eat.Tomorrow they say it will be in the 50's.
Sorry to hear you cancelled the SR trip Rich, hope you find something fun to do in its place.I'll be hitting thr Ohio steel in late March/April ,looking forward to it as I'm getting cabin fever and a itch to fish!

Glad you got out Jack. Maybe you should start raising hogs and chickens so the freezer is always full through the winter, lol.
We've already made our reservations at motel go chase Lakers all next week.
Bringing the ATV so no dragging gear around and with 22" ice , go anywhere on that 13 mile lake to find them. I will even throw some traps out for the monster pike that also inhibit them waters.
This one was caught there last week by a friend of mine.

They estimated at about 20 -23 lbs. Quick picture and release.
Caught on a short rod jigging Lakers
Weather was great today and I stuck my limit at 12 for tomorrow's Daytona500 fish fry. . Released as many.
Wish we were fishing the SR instead but heading to Laker & Pike on ice all week instead

Figures they drop the flow to a manageable 750 and expect it will recede even more.
We are on a ice fishing mission now so maybe next time for the SR.
