As they say in the ole country "better late then never" so today I did get the maintenance finished up on the CountryClipper (started project two weeks ago).  Oil changed, blades sharpened, spindles greased, tires properly inflated and all that other stuff, recommended in the owner/operators handbook.

Can't remember when I ever needed my winter jacket this time of year, while cutting the grass?  Was very disappointing as I was so looking forward to working on my sun tan, wearing my speedo, while mowing.  Ohhhhh welll, maybe next week.

04/30 6:00 AM OAT 26 degrees but since then the sun has come over the trees gradually melting the frost that again adorns the grass and outside structures.  Weather dude says sunny and a high of 60 for today.

But the gooder part, sunny with temps in the mid seventies for Tuesday and Wednesday.  When I'm finished painting the house for the day, I'm gonna mow more grass..... but this time, I can wear my speedo.  I'm soooo happy!!!

I was able to get a little mowing done before the heavy rains moved in.  Dad burn wind was blowing so hard it was pushing the clippings back into the discharge.   And those dam yellow flowers are growing so fast, they grew four inches high, where I just mowed!!  Stupid dandelions!!!

Trying to catch up on chores tonight. Hauling firewood. My lawn is already to high but since I'll be away all week, it will be a hay field by time I mow.
I hate mowing!!

Farmers been turning the fields until the rains arrived here yesterday but the weather dude says, expect sunny sky's and temps in the sixties for next several days so I suspect, the farmers will be sowing seed through next week.  I wish them well and abundant crops.

As for the on going saga of house maintenance, I am extremely happy to announce that I finally found the spot I have been looking for.  No,  not the last spot to be painted on the house, the spot I been yearning for, the seat behind the steering wheel of my boat.  I found it and you can bet your bottom dollar, that is where you'll find me during the forthcoming sunny sky's and temps in the mid sixties.

Welll --a few days ago they predicted tornados in my area-
Then came the TV and phone alerts of imminent danger-
Then came the wind along with a disturbing very dark sky with the black clouds at tree level, kind of a hummm- hummm =-like a woofer on deep base sound.
Then the trees bent over to an alarming angle along with the high winds, strange noise and much lightning-
We hit the cellar.
Got our electricity back today- many still out and will be for quite a while.
Many  roads are still closed with down huge trees and wires.
Gotta pre plan routes to wherever ya want to go- sometimes a couple of mile detours.

Some say we got the tornados and some say not
Whatever- it was a big deal.
Half mile south of me looks like a war zone- half the trees twisted off bout 25 feet up and the larger ones pulled right outa the ground.
A cousins pole barn is gone and some house roofs are torn up- trees into houses and smashed cars are commonplace.

r3g3- Experienced the same weather pattern 20 miles west of Danbury CT off of RT 84.  Power out from 5 PM Tuesday until about 11 AM this morning.  A neighbors house had a large maple fall on the garage end of the structure, trees down on power lines, some roads still closed. Kent, Lake Carmel, Carmel & Patterson got hit real hard.  Some areas are to be without power until early next week if not longer.  National weather service reports that it was an EF2 that touched down in the area.

Good to hear everyone here is safe. I been through many but that storm Tues had me and family heading to my basement.
I have never heard a sound like that before and I'm quite sure it was a vortex forming.

Much work to do before dark, I'll try and give a farm and garden update later.

Kinda hot today at 87 degrees. Arrived at my deer camp around noon with my son and grandson. Nice pile of wood that should last the weekend. We did some atv, seen 1 turkey , set up a new tree stand and now chilling by the fire.
Enjoy the weekend folks.

I think there are at least 100 cord of wood cut to chunks. Probaly 30 or so tri axle log trucks for the mill. There are still thousands of board feet saw logs in the woods that need to be skidded out yet. Most all is red oak.
The rains moved in overnight and it got miserable out there today. We gave it a go then bailed at noon.
Home now and time to put the muck boots on to do as much as I can around the house before my next adventure, trout on the ausable.

My only complaint is , why must it rain EVERY weekend !! Ugh.

At least no rain.
What would memorial day be without a parade. My grandson was leading the pack.

Tried to make 1 good weed wacker out of 4 junk ones. Ended up buying another.
Pool is uncovered and running.
Got to mow and do yard duties. I need a VACATION !!

Cool picture of the parade HT.

I hear ya on the vacation.  Washed all my patio furniture and I'll be dam'ed if I remember putting that much stuff away last fall.  I swear more of that stuff sneaks into my garage every year.  Power washed the back porch then painted the floor with that deck restore stuff and painted the railings with Valspar.  I don't remember attaching alllllll those balusters either,  I quit counting after,  tooooo dam many!!!

Moved my BBQ grill from the porch and when I set it down, dadburn piles of rust began falling to the ground.  Looked inside to find the 'heat shield' disappearing before my eyes and one end of the burner blown out leaving a gaping hole.  GOOD GRIEF, not on Memorial Day weekend.

Taking advantage of today being a holiday then tomorrow, it's back to fishing and BBQ grills going on sale!!!!

After spending sun up till well past sundown on this glorious day, we broke out my grandsons telescope and gazed.
For some reason this moon had me thinking of a Neil Young song called " one of these days "
Check it out sometime.
I need a shower by gosh but it was a great day to be alive !
Thank you all that sacrificed to the United States of America.
