Are Studded felt sole wader boots Any good?

Greetings all, Im new to this forum. I was wondering if anyone uses studded felt soles in jan / feb on the Salmon river and if so how do they compare to korkers sandles.
                                          Thanks, Louie

    King Louis,

I've used felt before in the winter...and I would not recommend them when there is snow on the ground.  The snow bunches up on the bottom of the felt, and after a short walk you'll feel like you're walking on stilts.

Stick with Korkers or something all metal without the felt.

    Metal Mad:

I couldn't agree more.  I have felt soled chest waders and they are great when you spike them with titanium screws and put Dr. Scholl Jel-Inner Soles in them.  That is until you have to walk through snow and then they cake up.  The rest of the year they are great, as they are insulated.
Not bad when I'm out snow blowing on icy driveway or ice fishing on an ice coated surface.

Same here. Ed has titanium screws? Where can I get those?
My latest boots have studs built in.
The snow thing is a pain for sure.

    Guys:

I got mine at Tractor Supply in Saratoga Springs.  Stainless steel would also work, but I feel these last longer.

I had experienced sliding using felt soles wading in 12 inches of fast moving little sandy creek when it was so cold, ice was crystalizing on the streambed. I would never risk felt soles during freezing temps on any wading fishing trip period. I do believe it is a law that after nov. all waders must have studded footware. I have those velcro strap vibram sole stabilcers.  I have no stable income as a handyman this time of year is slow and gas is too expensive to commute  for play anywhere. businesses have to be feeling it everywhere. cheney bush gas just too expensive and good jobs continue to leave the country in droves.
