STEELHEAD FLIES

my two friends are flying in from montana for the xmas hiloday we are going to erie the day after xmas. we all are avid fly fisherman but i havent had the oppertunity to fish much with hunting work and my new dog.... i just wanted to know some colors and sizes and which flies to tie before comming up any help would be greatly appreciated thanks....

    All depends on the creek conditions, the clearer the smaller, the muddier the bigger, colors can change daily.

    May the holes in your net be no larger than the fish in it.

    pretty much anything that doesn't stay in the fly box.  get 'em wet.

    Take some egg pattern in size 12-16 white, pink, chartruese, peach, yellow. A few buggers in white, black, olive. And some nymphs Pheasant tails,stone flys the smaller the better. That should give you sufficient options for any conditions.

     yeah what he said. 

    Try bright colors for darker water and natural for clearer.  You'll likely run into clearer type water with a nice green tint in the deeper holes.  You could try a dead drifted bugger or a mickey finn.  A light pink or off colored peach in SS is always a good bet with green water.  Size 12-14.

    Pink and Black Egg suckin Leeches have worked for me. As well as olive wollys, and SS patterns like Silver said. Good luck up there! any Idea as to where you'll go?

    prob start at walnut at the tubes i always do good there.. then prob to elk either at the mouth or up stream around the first bend.... anyone know where the fish are holdn now???
