At least he didn't put the stream name in the file name.

Shawn - what kind of concrete dweller do you got there ? Was it bred with a chameleon ? Eye looks like it. If it just have a golden stripe down the center, it'd make trophy status.

Surprised old dudes can make it that far up in there.

ps. the one and only time I met SilverKype was a chance meeting on that very stream, way up above where DarDys' photo was taken.

I haven't ventured too high yet.  Far too many PFBC Easter trout down below.  It took less than two hours yesterday to catch a Dirty Harry's worth on a CDC EHC.

And, not I didn't see any of the above bugs, in any numbers, yet.  At least not down low.  Perhaps above.

A 5 second seine of the water showed why the fishing was so tough, yesterday afternoon.
Baetis duns kept coming and coming for hours.
Photo is a bit blurry, but you get the idea.

shawn that PINK shirt has g-- written all over it

My wife bought that shirt for me many years ago in the World Wide Sportsman and dared me to wear it Tarpon fishing.  I caught a 140 pounder that day.  She washed it out and I wore it the next day and caught three.   That was 12 years ago and except for last year I have caught a tarpon every time I wore the shirt.  Last year I had four tarpon on while wearing the shirt, but I didn't boat or leader any.  She wants me to give it up because she says the magic is faded out of it -- you should have seen just how pink it was before the sun got to it, but no way .  The only question is whether to wear it on the first day to get the skunk out of the boat or reserve it for the last day in case I haven't caught one yet (I have three more that are just a g --, like coral, and a nice off orange).

It also works well on bone fish, snook, and Mahi.  It does not work on freshwater fish, however.

Never lost Shawn. Have gone the wrong way many times however.

Some fish from Sunday and my buddy's from yesterday.

The thickest I've ever seen sulphurs.

This cool weather is a nice break from the usual hot evenings. They took emergers from 3:30 - 6:00 Sunday. Spinners were falling at 6:30.

That kitchen bug had to fly a long ways and ended up looking for love in all the wrong places because I doubt they found a mate anywhere around.

Where there any risers in the last two photo areas?

Yeah, no doubt that bug died a virgin. According to my topo program it's .38 miles to the river from here, so I'm guessing he wasn't going to make it back. If it would have been here 2 days earlier It would have found a mate since there was another hanging around.

There were a few risers while the duns were coming off, but no interest in the spinners.

Re:Photo Thread 2012/06/04 12:38:42 (permalink)
I've been spending a lot of time on a small native brookie creek. This is the first year I've fished it. Up until recently most of the creek was dead, due to acid mine drainage. Before the restoration, there was only a mile of creek which had bugs, and fish left. I fished a couple miles of it over the past couple of weeks and have found fish, and a fishable hatch of blue quills, and cahills in water that used to run orange. Best I can tell I'm the first to have fished here in a very long time.

Here's a few pics.

May 21 , first time out fly fishing for this Vet. Probably not the best idea putting a first time caster through the obstacle course.

Heading up to God's Country. We didn't see him but we found some trout.
