March trout

A good day on the Little J. The Queen is happy. Not a large amount landed but enough to keep her happy. Average size was amazeing. It got helped a little by a 20 and 21 inch brown. Smiles all around...WF

I saw blue quills, bwo's, black stones, black midges and a couple caddis, last week a couple of days. That being said, I caught all my fish on sulphur nymphs.

Was in the gorge last Saturday and saw some surface action. It was a big sucker floating by. Figured somebody must be upstream trying to eliminate any possibility of future hookups with that feller.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

It could not have been he-who-shall-remain-nameless because he is a strict practicioner of C & R for suckers.

Could have been one of his. Studies show even barbless hooks still kill almost 10% of the time.....WF

I am a strict practicioner of C&R for suckers. I beautiful fish like that deserves to be caught more than once.

All kidding aside, I'm pretty sure it's illegal to intentionally kill them in C&R water like the river.

I never thought about that.  I was under the presumption, and I may very well be wrong, that the C & R regs on the Little J pertained to trout only and other species, such as suckers, bass, etc. would fall under "normal" regs.

You may be right. I've never paid much attention to the regs for suckers. I was just thinking about the rule that forbids taking "bait" from the river, which for many suckers are considered "bait".
