Dont be so impatient that you take a chance on thin ice. I dont care what you weigh, that thin ice is too dangerous. Just because its 2" dont mean its safe. Dont want to lose any young fellers from the board. I was out on a SCARY 3 one time but i'll never do that again.

i dont venture out until theres 5 inches because im never alone icefishing, but its still getting to me....stopped at a few ponds today around my area and everything was at around 2-3"...maybe next week...

Yup, I can't wait to be limited to a few 10 inch holes, rather than the whole lake, or stream.

We wait til there are others out on the ice before we venture out.Some of the ponds had frozen over earlier but that rain we had got rid of it pretty quick.

I hate it when we get a good cover of ice then we get a bunch of snow on top of that.I hate walking along in the snow on top of the slush.then that stuff freezes up

I was told(tonight) there was ice(not safe ice) on the marina at Walnut and P. I. marina bay last week, does anyone know if this is true? If it is true I would guess that those areas should have at least 5 inches by X mass. Can anyone verify this? Can't wait to come back up!!!!

think cold....do the ice dance....everybody leave your fridge door open....what ever it takes......im ready...vexilar charged, all tips are re-spooled, rods re-done, gear organized, auger sharpened, propane filled....i cant wait much more....

I don't know about 5" by xmas with above freezing temps predicted for the 19th to the 23rd. And a little warning to stevepf don't put a lot of faith in the fact that others are on the ice, especially early ice a lot of people will push it. I once walked out onto pymie to see 2 ice fisherman, much to my surprise when I reached down the hole to check the ice thickness it was around 2" or so needless to say I didn't stick around to get an exact measurement.

yes, there is ice on the marina and horshoe pond, but it is only a skim coating. i doubt that we will be on the ice by new years. with all these warn snaps we are getting it will be well into january before the refugee camp forms at the second parking lot, and probably longer for other spots. who knows?

YES!!!!!!!! 5 inches on some of the ponds over here in Waterford...my friend checked lake pleasant and said it wasnt even all the way covered though ... looks like ill be hitting a few ponds this weekend...
