Aluminum canoe
I inherited my grandfathers 15' aluminum canoe and I'm thinking of selling it and getting a "fishing" kayak. It does leak a LITTLE, maybe a cup or so every 20 or 30 minutes. I'm sure I could find the small leak and JB weld it or something but I brought it home put it in the pond noticed it had a small leak and it has sat on the bank of my pond in the yard for the last few years. From what I've seen I think $350 is a very fair price.[image]  [/image]

I take you don't think $350 is a good deal? I just set the price by looking on Ebay and saw that the CHEAPEST one in the US is $400. So I guess thanks.

Not a lot of guys are looking for an aluminum canoe, heavier, as well they tend to be a pain cleaning up. Plus for a new canoe they can go down to a sporting store and get something light weight for a little more. You might be a little disappointed with any valid offers, most guys wouldn't sniff at anything under 200-250. Just sayin'

Plus it has a leak, there's going to be a lot of excuses to deduct price, but you might be able to swap?

If it leaked a few years ago before abandoning it outside you might want to consider offers over $.70 per pound

I'd consider a little less, if not I guess I'll just drop it off at Two Mile Run for the summer. That way I can jump in the car and go fishing without loading or unloading anything. Like I said the "leak" is miniscule but I like to be honest, it will pay off someday.

Heavier?? I don't have any experience with any of the newer makes, but I have to say that the 15ft aluminum canoe I bought last year and my grandfathers 17ft grumman are both extremely light and can be handled by 1 person easily enough, as compared to the other fiberglass / composite ones I have used. That being said, I have to agree that the price on this one is about double of what I expect somebody will pay.

Doesn't bother me Bogeyjoker. I set the price by looking up "aluminum canoe" on ebay and noticed the cheapest one was $400 so that is where I got my price. For any less than $250 though it is worth it to me just to keep it and store it at Justice lake (Two Mile). On a side note I think the PA record muskie is in that lake and I think I saw him a couple years ago.

Yes, just to the right of the boat launch there is a little cove that has a cable running around it. My grandfather used to leave this same canoe over there all summer. Just use your own chain and pad lock. I assume they still allow that anyway.

Dakotab - How many people does that boat hold? I wouldn't mind trading the USS Fartknocker, for something I can take the kids on the Yough with. If it is still around in the Spring and able to check that leak, I might be intersted in trading a yak. You can check out some pics in the photo gallery below. It's 8 years old, has some fishing mods. Pretty good shape, just hasn't seen the water much since I bought a bigger boat about 5 years ago & addition of kids. That could be true. I'd spend that. I live in Centerville (about a 20 mile drive or so). It'd be worth it not to have to haul it everytime.

I saw some of that Flex Seal (as seen on TV stuff) at Walmart. I'll bet that stuff seals that little leak. I know approximately where its at. It's somewhere in the the back of the canoe right around where it starts to curve up.
