3 day weekend around bedford

So this is clearly a post made on account of a bit of cabin feaver.

I'm thinking about taking a 3 day weekend at some point this summer around bedford. my dad and I always golf at bedford springs once a year. this year, i'm thinking about driving out there on a friday, golfing, then camping somewhere near bedford on friday/saturday night. shawnee would probably be the obvious choice to camp. my question is this: where should I fish? I'll be on foot, targeting bass. would it be better to ignore shawnee lake and go fish somewhere on the raystown branch? any thoughts/input is welcome.

I would stay away from shawnee, fishing sucks there.I would try the river from bedford to breezewood along rt.30.
You can have fun with smallie, rockbass on soft plastics to live bait.

Yeah I have never fished shawnee, but I have heard nothing good about it. I think the Juniata might be the way to go. I prefer river fishing anyways. Would you recommend camping somewhere other than shawnee, or is it a halfway decent place to camp?

Shawnee Lake doesn't suck all together , you can have a blast with whatever your fishing for if you do a good deal of scouting and homework with the depth finders or if you wanna sit in any spot and hammer small carp all day LOL.

The campground itself is ok besides the amount of poison ivy and oak on every tree...Not sure if Camp Hartley is still open but it was on a nice deeper section of the river. Think he charged $2 to park and $8 or $10 to camp? Plus some of the people that have docks there will let you fish/launch off it if you ask.

Shawnee is a great place camp very clean. I have a camp near by and quit fishing Shawnee the lake is DEAD unless you want to fish for carp. I do admit that last year the fishing did improve some but very little. You would be better off to fish the river

I'll probably end up going to fish the Raystown branch. good news is that i have about 6 or 7 months to figure out where to fish. kind of a good thing and kind of a bad thing.

thank you very much for the input. looking to be a good time.

I would camp at Shawnee but not fish the Lake.  Shawnee's campground is okay.   Like was mentioned above fish the Raystown branch of the Juniata.  The bass aren't that big but fun to catch anyway.

The only thing better than 1 day of fishing is 2 days of fishing.
