Auger Blade Replacements

Where can you buy replacement blades for a manual ice auger.  I would think a Gander Mountain or Dunham's might have them.  I guess I would need to take one off and show it to them for sizing.   Might do some ice fishing this year but need new blades.

George: I saw some at the greensburgh gander mt a couple of weeks ago and imagine they are in johnstown also. Call brian at fishusa and he can get you the right ones unless your in johnstown.

There is also a man in minnesota? where i've been sending my dull ones every couple of years. They've always come back as good as new. Last year he charged less than $10 to sharpen and return the old ones. Strikemaster also has a replacement program where you send the old ones and they sent you new ones but with postage i think it ends up costing as much if not more than new.

I would think that any local equip. dealer that sharpens mower blades, could do the job.

Sorry spoon but a mower shop couldn't do a good job on auger blades they need to be precision ground more like a machine shop can do.

No problem for me, just a thought. I just let the sun drill me a BIG hole. Sometimes it's a LONG wait, but I'm patient ( not really ).

You can buy replacement blades at Trader Horn, there are directions on the box on how to sharpen blades and what sharpening stone to use on it, it worked for me and acouple of my friends, I bought a new set and use them as a backup and keep the stone with them.  I found out drilling moving water such as Elk and Walnut creek really dulls them fast.  John

thats a good fish, they are all good, some are gooder than others

Platz's Sharpening here in Erie will sharpen them.  Seems like it was about $12 last year.
