That looks like the result of bored fishermen during a low water time!

Actually, I was travelling through from Blue Jay in early September and there was a couple of school vans parked at the new bridge and a bunch of what looked like high school kids in the water wearing waders. I figured a biology class on a field trip.

they aren't made by aliens lol, but they are people who have a lot of time on their hands lol

the ones that I have seen when traveling through Ontario are small, and usually on large rocks and boulders a long the highway. read about them on the wikipedia link that I posted above.
I read this morning that some of the parks in Canada have had to ask people to stop building them, because they are building way too many and confusing people in some areas where they actually use them to mark paths.

the ones in the pictures here are just piles of rocks.  the ones in canada are cool.
ive heard the same thing about the prov. parks asking people to stop making them.  but for different reasons.  if you drive 400 north past the muskokas they're everywhere.

Those will be knocked over the first drunken Thursday  night of trout season.  Those who don't fish for the weekend will finish the demolition.

That is a very admirable attitude to have! NOT!

Somebody takes their time to do something a little "different" and bring a small change to the scenery or to make another person take notice of the creek...and you bash them for it...NICE.

Maybe you would have rather seen them tossing dozens of beer cans and Sheetz cups along the shore?

Had I been passing by when they were constructing, I probably would have spent a bit of time and effort to participate!

    I'm sorry...I mis-read your intended sarcasm.

As the saying goes...an eyesore is in the eye of the beholder, or something like that!

But, don't fret...those eyesore rockpiles will be gone with the next flood or moved along with the February ice floes.

your lack of reading comprehension reflects your intellegence

i said "those aren't just little 5 rock stacks"
as is 5 (1,2,3,4,5) rocks in a stack
    rather those are elaborate eyesores

altering nature for selfish purposes and impacting others enjoyment of it

they really aren't hurting anyone or anything. the first major spring rainfall with snow melt and they will be gone.
it was neat to see, and not destructive. or as Loomis said, first drunken fishing trip, either way, they'll be gone next trout season, and the rocks will be back on the bottom of the creek where they belong.

nice picture post... way to keep things in context
I'm sure when someone sees an idiot stacking rocks in a Northern PA creek, the first thing that comes to mind is Stonehenge, Easter Island, pyramids, and Aztec ruins

    how couldn't they?
they are in the same class of religous/cultural significance, skill, and timeleeeness

So, the Pyramid is a Mayan pyramid, not Aztec. And the cliff carvings/tombs are in Turkey.

We strive for cultural accuracy here at Fish USA!

    carry on!

ps. I heard those sock colunbs were made by center pinners.

just to confirm the completely out of context pictures

    1- stonehenge
    2- pyramids
    3- easter island
    4- mayan ruins
    5- turkey

just think... some day Tionesta creek will hold its rightful postion as #6

Ok, ok I'll knock the SH*T outta of the 1's in tionesta creek. I'm drivin' up that way 2 am. fri morning. Anybody else willing to take care of the 1's on the clarion and blue jay. I will return the rocks to there natural state as part of the geological make up of the stream bed. So that the hippies tree huggers (I meen that in the best possible way) dont get offended.
